Sprint Football Secures Spot in CSFL Championship with 31-0 Victory Over Penn

Navy posted a 31-0 victory against Penn on Friday night on Senior Day.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy sprint football team (5-1, 2-0) registered a 31-0 shutout over Penn (5-2, 1-1) in a Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) South Division game on Friday night at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. With the win, the Midshipmen secured a spot in the CSFL Championship game on Saturday, Nov. 16 in West Point, N.Y.

"It feels good to get the win," head coach Captain Carter Reading, USMC said after the game. "We were firing on all cylinders tonight, but we haven't peaked yet. Our defensive coordinator was really well prepared; our offensive coordinator was really well prepared. Jim McNeal and Liam Brown were working really hard. We had a lot of help from the guys. The seniors weren't going to give up. Luke chasing that ball down felt really good. I thought our team looked really strong all around. Defense made a big stand on the two yardline and holding them to zero was a huge momentum change. All of the guys on the offensive line, defensive line, working together. Everyone. From the coaches to operations to the entire team. I was a good win."

The game served as Senior Day and the Midshipmen recognized its 14 senior players – Andrew Bailey, Simon Burger, Tyler Cox, Robert Flores, Tyron Francis Jr., Andy Jones, Major Kent, Lane Landas, Andres McCann, David Niski, Chris Stumpf, Jackson Suddath, Jonathan Swift, and Luke Wagner – prior to the game.
