The Weekend Advance
•    The 2024 Navy volleyball season will come to a close Saturday with the Mids playing host to Holy Cross at 4 p.m. in the Wesley A. Brown Field House.
•    Navy will recognize its Class of 2025 –– Hannah Hoover, Lilly Lutz, Katie Jackowski, Doris Nelson and manager Kendall Hieber –– prior to the start of the match.
Last Weekend

Last Weekend
•    Navy began its weekend of round robin play against American and Loyola by posting a four-set win over the Greyhounds, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, Thursday night in Annapolis.
•    Friday saw Loyola, defeat American in Washington, D.C.
•    Then on Saturday, the Mids traveled to AU's Bender Arena where they too defeated the Eagles.  Navy survived s scare from American to record a five-set win, 25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 25-27, 15-12

Accessing the USNA
•    Vehicle access to the USNA is limited to those with an approved ID card.  All others must park outside of the USNA.
•    On Saturday, the shuttle bus will run from and return to the Navy Health Clinic (695 Kinkaid Rd., Annapolis, MD, 21402).  There is no charge to park.
•    The shuttle bus begins running one hour prior to the start of the match and ends four hours after the match begins.
•    Fans also can park downtown and walk through the gate one visitors center (52 King George St., Annapolis, MD, 21402).
•    Those ages 18 and over must have a government issued photo identification card, such as a driver's license, and visitors ages 17 and under who do not have a valid photo ID must be accompanied by an adult.

New Faces
•    Navy has used 19 different starting lineups, with 16 players starting at least one match.
•    The Mids have used 12 different starting lineups during the league season, with 16 different players starting at least one match.
•    Navy has had nine players make the first start of their respective careers this season.
•    Nine returning players have started more matches this season than they had in their careers entering 2024.
•    Navy had five players record the first kills of their respective careers during the Wake Forest Invite.
•    Among returning players, seven have recorded more kills this season than they had in their careers prior to the start of this year.

5-Set Matches
•    Navy played 15 five-set matches over the course of the 2022 (8) and 2023 (7) seasons.
•    For an additional comparison, the Mids played 18 five-set matches in the previous four seasons (2018-21).
•    Navy has played five five-set matches in 2024 to bring its total to 20 over the last three years.

Close Sets
•    Navy has played 56 sets since the start of the Patriot League season.  Of those 56 sets, 15 have been determined by just two points and 31 have been decided by no more than five points.

•    The Wesley A. Brown Field House has served as the primary home for the Navy volleyball team since the start of the 2008 season.
•    The Mids have compiled a 90-80 record in the facility, which includes a 41-25 record under head coach Paco Labrador.  
•    Additionally, Navy has registered a 72-48 record in league regular season matches in the field house.  The Mids have posted a 33-15 league regular season record under Labrador in the building.
•    The late Lt. Cmdr. Wesley A. Brown ('49) was the first African-American graduate of the USNA.

Holy Cross Preview
•     Holy Cross travels to Annapolis with an overall record of 2-22 and a Patriot League record of 0-15.
•    The Crusaders were edged in five sets, 25-14, 23-25, 25-21, 14-25, 15-13, Saturday at home against Lafayette.
•    Navy defeated Holy Cross in three sets in the first match of the year.
•    The Mids beat the Crusaders, 25-23, 25-16, 25-20, Oct. 11 in Worcester.
•    Farrah Eike led the Mids with 13 kills while Gabby Wold posted 11 kills to pace the Crusaders.
•    Defensively, both liberos –– Hannah Hoover for Navy, Emma Halstead for Holy Cross –– had 16 digs.  Julia Humphrey registered six blocks for the Mids and Lauren Halverson posted five blocks for the Crusaders.
•    Navy outhit Holy Cross, .181-.064, thanks to holding a 37-28 lead in kills.

Stevens Named Rookie of the Week
•    Lilah Stevens was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday.
•    She averaged 2.67 kills per set and hit .373 on the week.
•    Stevens first posted six kills in Navy's four-set win over Loyola.  She then poured in a career-best 18 kills , hit .455 and added four blocks in the five-set victory at American.
•    Four of her 18 kills came in the fifth set as she recorded a new career high for kills (previous high was 14).

Hoover Rises on Digs Lists
•    Hannah Hoover became the fifth Mid during the rally scoring era and seventh in school history (since 1995) to accrue 1,000 career digs.  She attained the 1,000 dig of her career late in the final set of Navy's Oct. 12 match at Lafayette.
•    The last Mids to reach 1,000 career digs was setter Patricia Mattingly (1,104) in 2018.
•    Hoover has moved into sixth place on Navy's career digs list and fifth place during the rally scoring era with her total of 1,090 digs.
•    Hoover had been Navy's starting libero in 65-straight matches until she was unable to play Sept. 28 at Colgate due to an injury that limited her to two sets at Army the night before.  The last time she was not Navy's libero was August 26, 2022, when the Mids played at Maryland.
•    Hoover snared 36 digs in Navy's five-set match at Loyola on Sept. 22.
•    Her total ranks second among Mids for the most digs in a match in Division I history (since 1991).
•    Hoover stands alone in fourth place at Navy overall and stands alone in fourth place during the rally scoring era with 62 career matches with at least 10 digs.

Hanson's Double-Doubles
•    Setter Arleigh Hanson just missed recording another double-double when she dished out a career-best 46 assists and finished with nine digs in Navy's Oct. 19 match against Lafayette.
•    She has posted a double-double in 10 matches this season, including a stretch of five in eight matches from Sept. 22-Oct. 12.
•    Both Hanson and Lainey Feighery posted assists / digs double-doubles in Navy's five-set win at American on Nov. 9.  Hanson posted 21 assists and 11 digs while Feighery registered 22 assists and 12 digs.
•    Her 10 assists / digs double-doubles ranks among the most by a Mid in a season during the rally scoring era.
