BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore Danny Wask was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Wrestler of the Week for his performance at the Navy Classic last Saturday.

Wask won the 174-pound title at the Navy Classic after he pulled off a top 10 upset victory over sixth-ranked Lenny Pinto from Nebraska, 10-5.

At the Navy Classic, Wask also defeated No, 32 Sean Harman (Oregon State) and No. 21 Garrett Thompson (Ohio) to go 3-0 against the ranked opponents. He became the 17th wrestler in program history to win a Navy Classic individual championship twice. He's also the first Mid to win back-to-back titles since Nicholas Gil in 2017-18. The Wantage, N.J., native recorded a 4-0 record on the day with three decision victories and a major decision. 

Wask garnered his second award this week, he was also recognized as the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week presented by Northrop Grumman.

Up next, the Mids will enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday before returning for the Mat Town I tournament on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Lock Haven, Pa.
