Last Time Out
• Navy dropped a 9-0 decision to a talented seventh-ranked Drexel squad last Wednesday (1/24) at the Kline & Specter Squash Center, but regrouped to take down #31 Haverford at the GIAC Squash Courts in what was the Mids' second trip to the Philadelphia region in 24 hours.
• Navy was forced to play short-handed in both matches after the flu hit the Mids Tuesday evening.
• #7 Drexel earned its win over the Mids behind 3-0 victories in 8 of the 9 matches with Navy defaulting the final match due to illness
• Navy had hopes of playing with a full lineup on Thursday with the return of #8 player Ramsay Killinger. However Matt Wang and Matthew Kang, the team's #1 and #5 players respectively, were unable to compete after being hit with the flu.
• The Midshipmen overcame the early 2-0 deficit with back-to-back wins by Sean Wu and Alexander Orr and the #5 and #3 positions ... Wu provided Navy with its first win of the night on a 3-0 victory (11-1, 11-4, 11-7) against Benjamin Schiltz, while Orr, who is second on the team in wins this season, knotted the match at 2-2 with a 3-0 sweep (11-7, 11-5, 11-8) against Kai Thomas Schinaman
• Haverford pulled back ahead, 3-2, when Arvin Krishnan rallied from 2 games down to defeat Navy's Holden Woodward at the #7 spot in 5 games (9-11, 10-12, 11-3, 12-10, 11-8)
• Navy went on to win the final 4 matches, however 2 of the 4 would go the distance
• Tighe Mullarkey's 3-0 win (11-5, 11-9, 13-11) over Peter Lehv kicked off the run and was followed by a spectacular win by Lucas Spiro at #2 ... Spiro and Haverford's Aaryaman Jaising traded victories and Jaising looked to have the match secured in the fourth game ... Spiro, however, fought off match balls to take the fourth game 14-12 and force a fifth game ... Spiro went on to earn the 3-2 victory with an 11-7 win in the fifth
• Navy clinched the win behind Ramsay Killinger's sweep (11-9, 11-5, 11-2) over Qianzhi Zhao at #6 ... Killinger leads the team with a 14-6 record this season
• Like Spiro, team captain Henry Sparkman had a gutsy performance in the final match of the evening ... Sparkman found himself down 2-1, including a tough 12-10 loss in the third game ... Sparkman bounced back to take game four 11-8 before closing out the match with a 13-11 win in the fifth
