Stephanie Lee Finishes as Navy’s Top Golfer, Tying for 34th on the Leaderboard

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Paced by senior Stephanie Lee, the Navy women's golf team kicked off its spring schedule with a 10th-place finish at the 2024 Sea Best Intercollegiate, held Monday and Tuesday at the San Jose Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.

Playing on the par-72, 6,336-yard course, the Midshipmen shot a 49-over par 913 to finish 10th in the 15-team field, shooting a team-best 299 in the opening round before posting a 304 in Monday's second round and scoring a 310 over Tuesday's final 18 holes.

Coastal Carolina edged out the tournament's two-time defending champion, Campbell, for the team title, as the Chanticleers notched a three-round score of 19-over par 883 to beat out the Camels' 21-over par 885. Paola Rosario of Cincinnati claimed individual medalist honors for the tournament, racking up a weekend score of 3-under par 213 (71-73-69).

Lee was the top golfer for the Mids, ending in a tie for 34th, as the senior shot rounds of 74, 76 and 77 for a final score of 11-over par 227. Finishing one stroke behind Lee, freshman Emma Tang used rounds of 75, 77 and 76 to earn a score of 12-over par 228 and tied for 37th.

Senior captain Mara Hirtle was close behind by tying for 42nd at 14-over par 230, shooting a team-low round of 73 to start Monday before finishing the tournament with scores of 77 and 80.

Tying for 48th, sophomore Hallie Brisco posted rounds of 77, 76 and 79 to end the first event of the spring at 16-over par 232, while freshman Keira Howard rounded out the Navy lineup by tallying a final score of 20-over par 236 (83-75-78).

"This event was a great way to start the spring season," said head coach Kylee Sullivan. "There were a lot of positives that we saw during our three rounds. We also learned a lot and will continue to build on the solid foundation that we have created in the off-season. I think that the team is in a great spot right now and I'm excited for the rest of the spring."

Navy returns to action on March 16-17, as the Mids will look to repeat as the Red Rocks Invitational champions at Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona, Ariz.
