ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Navy intercollegiate sailing team spent Saturday and Sunday at St. Mary's College, opening the spring season in a scrimmage with the host school, Georgetown and Old Dominion.
Â
The Midshipmen fielded four teams on two different courses and was able to participate in a lot of race scenarios over the two days. Saturday saw light to moderate north winds and temperatures in the 40s, while Sunday started out colder with no wind as the fleet waited for a bit before the wind filled in and the air warmed up. A few hours of practice races were held in a light southerly before the wind died again and the event ended. While there were no scores taken, Navy showed a lot of promise heading in the season.

Navy will now prepare for its first regattas of the spring on March 2-3, heading to the George Washington Team Race and the Old Dominion Spring Women's Team Race and hosting the Navy Team Race Invitational.
