Navy to Play Host to ECAC Open Swimming and Diving Championship

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams will play host to the ECAC Open Swimming and Diving Championship this weekend in Lejeune Hall.  The meet runs Friday through Sunday.

This is the eighth time Lejeune Hall is playing host to the championship (2012,'14, '16, '17, '19, '20, '22 and '24).

Tickets
Ticket can be purchased in advance at this link.  Tickets are $15 for each session of preliminary heats, $25 for each session of finals and $53 for an all-session ticket.

Attending the Meet
Those without an approved ID card need to park outside of the USNA and walk through the gate one visitors center.  Those ages 18 and older must provide a government-issued ID card to gain entry and those ages 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  There will not be a fan shuttle bus for the event.

Field
ECAC member schools from throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions are invited to the championship.  Teams sending at least some swimmers and / or divers to the meet include Navy, American, Bucknell and Loyola from the Patriot League, Columbia, Penn, Princeton and Yale from the Ivy league, as well as Penn State, Rutgers, Fairfield, Rider, Fairleigh Dickinson and James Madison.

Format
Trial heats will be held in the morning, which will advance swimmers and divers to the evening finals.  There will be two finals of eight in each event.

Friday, March 1 - 10 a.m. swimming trials / 1 p.m. diving trials / 6 p.m. finals
200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 400 medley relay, women's three-meter diving, men's one-meter diving

Saturday, March 2 - 10 a.m. swimming trials / 1 p.m. diving trials / 6 p.m. finals
200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 800 freestyle relay, women's one-meter diving, men's three-meter diving

Sunday, March 3 - 9 a.m. swimming trials / 4 p.m. finals
200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle relay, 1660 freestyle

Navy History
The men's team has placed first 13 times and second once in the 14 years it has competed at the meet.  The Mids have won the title in each of the last nine times the championship has been held.

The women's team has won the championship seven times and finished in second place three years over the last 11 times the meet has been contested.  Navy won last year's title and placing second in 2022.

ECAC Long Course Time Trials
On Thursday, Navy will play host to a day of time trials in Lejeune Hall's 50-meter length pool as swimmers who are eligible to compete at the ECAC Championship try to attain U.S. Olympic team Trials cut times.  The sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. 

Current Navy qualifiers for the June 15-23 Olympic Team Trials that will be held in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., are Jonah Harm (200 fly), Juan Mora (200 breast), Michael Phillips (200 breast) and Matt Murphy (200 breast).
