LEWISBURG, Pa. – Another strong performance helped the Navy women's golf team and sophomore
Sue Lee maintain their spots at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final day of the 2024 Patriot League Championship, with second-round action wrapping up Saturday afternoon at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.
Playing on the par-70, 5,926-yard course, the Midshipmen posted a round of 298 over Saturday's 18 holes, bringing their weekend total to 33-over par 593 and keeping hold of first place in the team standings despite second-place Boston University closing the gap to just three strokes behind Navy.
Sue Lee moved into sole possession of first place on the player leaderboard after sitting in a five-way tie for first after Friday, shooting a 72 in Saturday's second round to put herself at 5-over par 145 going into the final round of play.
Tied for second place just one stroke off the leader was senior
Stephanie Lee, as a second-round score of 73 moved her weekend total to 6-over par 146 alongside Boston's Christy Chen after sitting in that five-way tie for first following the Friday's opening round.
Rookie
Emma Tang also found her way into the top-5 at the close of play Saturday, as a 77 score in the second round put her in a tie for fifth place at 11-over par 151, while sophomore
Hallie Brisco registered a round of 80 on Saturday to bring her weekend score to 15-over par 155 and tied for 16th in the standings.
Senior captain
Mara Hirtle rebounded from a tough Friday to post a 76 on Saturday, improving her weekend score to 19-over par 159 and moving into a tie for 21st, while freshman
Keira Howard shot an 88 in the second round to drop to 32nd place at 25-over par 165.
Navy will look to earn its second-ever Patriot League Championship on Sunday, as the tournament's third and final round is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m. from the Bucknell Golf Club.
