ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Led by freshman
Emma Tang shooting even-par, the Navy women's golf team opened NCAA play Monday at the Bermuda Run Regional by posting a first-round score of 14-over par 302, sitting in 10th place on the leaderboard at the Bermuda Run Country Club in Winston-Salem, N.C.
With regional host and defending national champion Wake Forest ending the opening day in first place (11-under par 277) at the par-72, 6,297-yard course, Monday saw Tennessee's Bailey Davis holding on to the top spot on the player leaderboard at 8-under par 64.
Using a pair of early birdies, Tang finished the first 18 holes with an even-par 72 score that put her tied for 21st. Sophomore
Sue Lee was the second-best Navy golfer on Monday with a 4-over par 76 round that placed her in a tie for 43rd.
Each ending the day tied for 52nd, senior
Stephanie Lee and freshman
Keira Howard both shot a 5-over par 77 in the first round, while sophomore
Hallie Brisco rounded out the lineup by standing 64th at 8-over par 80.
The second round of the Bermuda Run Regional tees off at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
