ANNAPOLIS, Md. // Navy junior snipe
Eli Heidenreich (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and junior golfer
Jack Tarzy (Jr / Medford, N.J.) are this week's Naval Academy Athletic Association Co-Athletes of the Week presented by Northrop Grumman.
Heidenreich was spectacular in Navy's season-opening victory over Bucknell on Saturday afternoon. He caught four passes for a career-high 74 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while carrying the ball twice for seven yards. His touchdown receptions were from two different Navy quarterbacks, catching a 9-yarder from starter
Blake Horvath and a 20-yarder from
Braxton Woodson. He is the first Navy player with two touchdown receptions in the same game since Nov. 27, 2021, when Chance Warren had two against Temple. Heidenreich also connected with Horvath for a two-point conversion in Saturday's victory. An all-around threat for the Mids, he returned punts for the first time in his collegiate career, returning two for a combined 32 yards.
Meanwhile, Tarzy helped lead the Navy men's golf team to its first tournament win since 2019. The Mids shot a school-record 3-under par 573 (289-284) to earn a share of the Alex Lagowitz Memorial title Sunday at the par-72 Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, N.Y. Tarzy, a 2024 First-Team All-Patriot League performer, paced the Mids with matching rounds of 71 to finish sixth in the final standings. It marked the second top-10 finish of his career.
