PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams split meets with Princeton and Kenyon this weekend at DeNunzio Pool in Princeton, N.J. The Navy men's team (9-4) posted a 285-66 victory over Kenyon (1-3) and fell, 246-107, to Princeton (7-0). The Mids (8-5) registered a 178-175 win over Kenyon (2-2) in the women's meet and dropped a 249-104 decision to the Tigers (8-0).
The men's team entered Saturday leading Kenyon by the score of 167-36 and trailed Princeton, 147-58. Navy's women's team began the day with a 111-94 lead over Kenyon and was behind Princeton, 143-62.
"We had two terrific sessions of competition," said Navy men's swimming head coach
Bill Roberts. "This meet has always been competitive and since we have gone to a three-team format it has only increased the level of competitiveness. Our team has been working extremely well together and I was very pleased with their approach as we entered the meet. I believe their hard work showed over the last two days. There were several highlights as well as several things we learned that we will continue to focus on as we get closer and closer to the championship season."
"We had a great two days of competition," said Navy women's swimming head coach
John Morrison. "Thanks to Princeton for hosting a great meet. And it was fun to compete against Kenyon for the first time. All three teams competed very well and it made for an exciting two days.
"We were very happy with our overall team performance coming off of our winter training camp."
The Navy men won each of Saturday's eight events against Kenyon and finished no lower than second place to Princeton in six events. Leading the team's efforts was
Juan Mora, who placed first overall in the 200 breast with an NCAA B cut time of 1:56.92.
The Mids began the second day of competition by placing second in the 200 medley relay (1:27.46). That was followed by
Everet Andrew finishing in second place in the 100 free (44.01) and
Ben Irwin earning the silver medal in the 200 back.
After Mora's effort,
Luca Oliva finished in second place in the 500 free (4:25.47).
Lachlan Andrew finished in fifth place in the 100 fly (48.84) and
Nate Sukeena closed out the individual events with a third-place showing in the 200 IM (1:49.72). Navy then placed second in the 400 free relay (2:56.28).
The Navy women's team opened Saturday by placing fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:43.77).

Lauren Walsh followed with a fourth-place finish in the 200 breast (2:14.31), then
Marin Rose placed seventh in the 500 free (5:00.42).
Navy gained some much needed points with a first and third-place overall finish in the 100 fly.
Catherine Weaverling won the event in a time of 54.49 to give her a one-half of a second win over Princeton's Veronique Rossouw, with
Caroline Irwin finishing third with her effort of 55.58. Walsh then recorded a second-place showing in the 200 IM with her time of 2:03.21.
"With Kenyon charging late in the second session," said Morrison, "Catherine and Caroline responded with great finishes in the 100 fly and Lauren did so as well in the 200 IM."
Navy ended the meet in fourth place in the 400 free relay (3:25.09) to provide just enough points to edge the Owls.
"We had an exceptional 400 free relay from Samantha,
Erin Miller, Allie and Catherine," said Morrison.
Both Navy teams will close out the dual meet portion of their respective seasons Jan. 24 when the men play host to Columbia and the women welcome Richmond to Lejeune Hall.
