Offshore Sailing Takes Fourth at Storm Trysail Club Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta

Navy Continues Fall Slate with Two Regattas this Week

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Compressed into one day of racing, the Navy offshore sailing team was able to grab a fourth-place finish in its division Saturday at the Storm Trysail Club's Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta in Larchmont, N.Y.

Competing at the Larchmont Yacht Club, threats of a nor'easter on Sunday pushed the regatta to one packed day of racing on Saturday. The Mids' Saturday consisted of great variation in wind conditions and exciting racing, with Navy ultimately coming in fourth out of seven boats in the PHRF class and second out of the four J/44s in the class.

Skippered by junior Logan Hayes, the MAXINE crew consisted of juniors Aden Newman, Lauren Aaby, Lois Herring, Jackson Lubalin, Nico Martinez and Isaac Katz, and sophomore Maggie Gordineer.

Navy continues the fall season on Oct. 15-19 with the Arturo Prat Regatta in Valparaiso, Chile, while the Mids will also race in the Annapolis-based J/105 Chesapeake Bay Championship on Oct. 18-19.
