Women’s Golf Looks to Win Fourth-Straight Navy Fall Invitational

Mids Have Claimed Home Fall Tournament in Each of Last Three Seasons, Emma Tang Seeking to Repeat as Individual Medalist

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Seeking to retain the event's team title for the fourth-straight season, the Navy women's golf team returns to action this weekend when it hosts the 2025 Navy Fall Invitational at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.
 
Playing at the par-72, 6,084-yard course, two squads of Midshipmen and 13 other schools will open the 36-hole tournament on Saturday with first-round tee times beginning at 9 a.m., while the second round will kick off Sunday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

The Field
In addition to Patriot League foes Bucknell and Holy Cross, the Mids will welcome teams from Delaware State, Hofstra, Howard, Iona, LIU, Monmouth, Mount St. Mary's, Queens, Stetson, Stonehill and Towson to the tournament.

Last Time Out
Posting its best round of the tournament over the final 18 holes, Navy propelled itself to a fifth-place finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational … The Mids started the event with a 9-over par 297 in the first round Sunday before closing the opening day with a second round of 13-over par 301 to sit sixth in the 16-team field, then came out and shot their best round on Monday at 7-over par 295, taking over fifth place from Penn by a narrow two-stroke edge at 29-over par 893 … Leading Navy was sophomore Vivian Cressman in a six-way tie for 11th place, posting rounds of 73 and 75 on Sunday before shooting an even-par 72 to close out the tournament at 4-over par 220 … Finishing one stroke behind Cressman was junior Emma Tang, who closed at 5-over par 221 and a share of 17th place … Placing 34th on the leaderboard, junior Keira Howard wrapped up a tournament score of 10-over par 226.
 
Mids at the Navy Fall Invitational
The Mids have hosted the Navy Fall Invitational in six of the past nine years, with the 2022 edition of the tournament being the first time that the host team took home first-place honors while Navy repeated as team champions in 2023 and 2024 … After finishing fifth out of 16 teams in the 2016 Navy Fall Invitational, the Mids placed second out of 12 teams in the 2017 event … Following a three-year hiatus, the event returned in 2021 with Navy placing third out of 13 teams and Angelina Chan finishing tied for seventh on the player leaderboard … The 2022 Navy Fall Invitational saw Mara Hirtle and Stephanie Lee both wrap up play in sixth place at 8-over par 152, as the Midshipmen shot a 40-over par 616 to take the top spot among 15 teams … 2023 featured Hirtle claiming the individual medal at 2-over par 146 while the Mids posted a score of 31-over par 607 to hold off Towson and place first … Emma Tang took home the 2024 individual medal at 2-under par 142, helping Navy to win the team title and shoot a program-record 16-over par 592 team score over the 36-hole event.
