Women’s Rugby Closes Out Fall Season at Home Against Penn State on Senior Day

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy women's rugby team (3-5) will close out its fall season Saturday when it hosts Penn State (2-4) at the Prusmack Rugby Center in Annapolis at 1 p.m. The program will hold senior day festivities for its 14 members of the class of 2026 beginning at 12:50 p.m.

Notes for Fans Attending
There is no admission charge for rugby games at the Prusmack Rugby Center.
Spectator parking is available in the lots on the north side of the Brigade Sports Complex (64 Greenbury Point Road, Annapolis, MD 21402). Overflow parking is available in the open space on the west side of the facility.
Alcohol consumption is prohibited at the Prusmack Rugby Center and surrounding parking areas.
 
Last Time Out: Army-Navy Star Game
Army recorded an 84-0 win over Navy in the Star Game last Saturday at the Anderson Rugby Complex in West Point, N.Y.
 
Navy Notes
  • Co-captain Ella Callahan ranks second on the team and first among fellow seniors with 20 points on four tries this season.
  • Ashley Spencer has started all eight games for the Mids this season. The senior from Blythewood, S.C., has scored three tries for 15 points.
  • Navy has maintained a consistent lineup this season with 13 players having appeared in all eight games.
  • The Mids have scored 215 points this season as well as averaged 4.1 tries per game.
  • Mia Young leads the team in scoring with 30 points. She has the most conversion kicks (10) for Navy this season and has added two tries.
  • Navy has made 67% of its conversion kicks this fall.
  • The Mids have scored at least 30 points in each of their three victories this season (Princeton, 78; Long Island, 31; Queens, 58).
  • Saturday's contest marks the second non-conference game of the season for Navy.
 
Scouting Penn State
  • The Nittany Lions have tallied a 1-2 record on the road this season with their lone away victory coming against Walsh, 22-19.
  • Penn State won its most recent game as it defeated St. Bonaventure, 45-14, at home on Oct. 18.
  • Four different players scored at least one try in the win over the Bonnies and were led by Danica Luzak and Dani Deer who each recorded two.
  • The Nittany Lions are led by 11th-year head coach Lauren Shissler.
 
Navy vs. Penn State
Saturday's game marks the first 15s meeting between Navy and Penn State. The teams last met during the spring 7s season last year when the Nittany Lions defeated the Mids (17-12) at the Women's 7s Premier National Championship tournament.
