Navy Swimming and Diving Teams Defeat a Trio of League Foes
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams combined to win 28 events during victories by the Mids (women: 5-2, men: 7-0) over American (women: 4-5, men: 2-7), Bucknell (women: 4-1, men: 3-2) and Lafayette (women: 0-5, men: 1-4), Saturday afternoon at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis.

"It is always fun to compete against these three teams," said Navy women's swimming head coach
John Morrison. "All are well coached and very good at racing. I was very good at how our team responded."
"It was an exciting day in Lejeune Hall today with four Patriot League teams competing," said Navy men's swimming head coach
Bill Roberts. "There was good energy both in the stands and on deck throughout today's competition."
The Navy men's team won all 16 events contested on the day. Earning a pair of individual event wins were
Tyler Kaminski and
Juan Mora. Kaminski swept the backstroke races, winning the 100 back in a time of 49.28 and the 200 back with an effort of 1:47.01. Mora first won the 100 breast with his time of 54.44 and later won the 100 individual medley with a time of 49.93.
"We saw some outstanding performances throughout the afternoon," said Roberts. :In addition, several team members had three or four races today with some doing their best work toward the end of the meet. We took a lot away from today's performances and are looking forward to getting right back to work this coming week."
Diver
Mackenzie Kim won both diving boards on the day for the women's team as she scored 277.90 points to win the one-meter event and 336.20 points to win the three-meter board.
Joining her with multiple individual event victories were
Sarah Eldridge and
Lauren Walsh. Eldridge posted a time of 10:22.81 to win the 100 free and later touched the wall first in the 500 free with her time of 5:02.67. Meanwhile, Walsh recorded a time of 1:03.13 to place first in the 100 breast and posted an effort of 2:18.43 to win the 200 breast.
"Team captain
Sarah Eldridge really set the tone in winning the distance events," said Morrison, "and the team followed her lead. We had a really good showing by our backstroke and breaststroke groups, as well as our divers. We are in a good place heading into our three-day meet."
The Navy men's team also won both the 200 medley and 200 free relays while the women's team placed first in the 200 medley relay.
