Action at UVA's Rivanna Romp to Close out Navy's Fall Racing Slate

Mids to enter crews in V8+ and V4+ races

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After a fall season full of land-based work, intrasquad racing on the Severn River and scrimmages versus local programs, the Navy women's rowing team will close the book on its 2025 fall state with action at the Rivanna Romp in Earlysville, Virginia on Sunday morning. Hosted by the University of Virginia, the competition will feature crews racing in a head-style time trial format over a 4,000-meter stretch of the Rivanna Reservoir near the Cavaliers' campus. Starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Navy has crews entered in the varsity eight and varsity four contests.

The field of the 2025 Rivanna Romp consists of Georgetown, Minnesota, Navy, North Carolina, Old Dominion and Virginia. The V8+ event kicks off the day at 11 a.m. before the teams mix their lineups into four-person crews for the 12:45 p.m. V4+ competition.

Navy took a year off from competing at the Romp as the last time they were down in Earlysville was in the fall of 2023. At the 2023 Rivanna Romp, Navy's fleet had 12 boats in action with its first freshman eight crew leading the way with a third-place result. Overall, the Mids finished with four top-10 efforts on Sunday. Navy's V8 came in ninth overall as it was overtaken down the stretch and clocked in 4.1 seconds back of Louisville's first crew with a 13:44.9 to 13:49.0 final decision.

Free parking is available for Sunday's racing at the Thomas Temple Allan Boathouse on the west bank of the Rivanna Reservoir. The boathouse is the closest point spectators can see the boats along the 4,000-meter course.
