EARLYSVILLE, Va. - The Navy women's rowing team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2025-26 race schedule on Sunday with action at the 2025 Rivanna Romp. Hosted by the University of Virginia on the Rivanna Reservoir, Sunday's competition featured six schools entering a total of 23 crews in head-style eight-person racing over a 4,000-meter stretch of water. At the conclusion of the varsity eight event, Navy's top crew finished seventh overall.
Taking on crews from Virginia, Minnesota, North Carolina, Georgetown and Old Dominion, Navy found itself in the middle of the first varsity eight crews on Sunday as the host Cavaliers won the outright event with a time of 13:39.51. Minnesota's top crew was the second V8 boat to complete the course as it placed third overall at 13:57.45, 13 seconds ahead of North Carolina's first varsity, who clocked in fourth with a time of 14:11.16. Navy's A crew posted the seventh fastest overall time, fourth in the V8 category, with a mark of 14:30.98.
The final two A boats to finish on Sunday were Georgetown at 14:56.47 and ODU at 15:38.03. The Hoyas and Monarchs placed 15th and 18th, respectively.
A national championship contender year-in and year-out, UVA's B and C crews were also near the front of the field and placed second and fifth overall with respective times of 13:41.11 and 14:11.70.
The remaining three crews representing Navy came in 17th (B - 15:32.63), 20th (C - 15:46.05) and 22nd (D - 16:27.27).
Sunday marked the final competition of calendar year for the Mids as they'll now turn their attention to offseason training and the 2026 championship season that begins in March.
