Navy Squash Earns 6-3 Win on Senior Day

The 20th-ranked Navy squash team (17-9) closed out its regular-season slate Saturday afternoon with a 6-3 victory over #22 Chatham (3-5) at the Prager Family Squash Facility in Annapolis. The Cougars spotted Navy two matches, as injuries forced Chatham to play two players down. Meanwhile, the win marked Navy's first in the series, as Chatham had won each of the previous three meetings.

Match Highlights
• In addition to the two wins by default, Navy opened the day with a 3-0 lead thanks to a 3-0 sweep by Ramsay Killinger (So / Wyndmoor, Pa.) over Obed Roman Garcia at the #7 position.
• Chatham earned its first win of the afternoon in a hard-fought match between Navy's Alexander Orr (Jr / Haverford, Pa.) and the Cougars' Abdelrahman Sadek at #3. Sadek led 2-1 when Orr leveled the match with a 12-10 win in the fourth. Sadek, however, was able to secure the win with an 11-6 win in the fifth.
• Navy came right back and took a 4-1 lead in the match when Matt Wang (Malvern, Pa.), one of two seniors on the team playing in his final home match of his career, overcame a 2-1 deficit to win games four (11-3) and five (11-5) to take the win over Sebastian Vaca Sanchez at #1. The win was Wang's 71st of his career, the 12th most in program history, and his 16th of the season.
• The Cougars narrowed the gap to 4-2 when Alejandro Cruz battled his way back from a 2-0 deficit to earn a five-game victory over Navy team captain Lucas Spiro (Sr / Buffalo, N.Y.) at #5.
• Navy answered by winning two in a row, including the match-clinching victory by Tighe Mullarkey (So/Jr / Locust Valley, N.Y.) who cruised to a 3-0 victory over Brett Poles at #6. Meanwhile, Wenqing Tang (Fr / Villanova, Pa.) swept Agustin Carranza at #2, defeating his Chatham foe 11-7, 11-3, 11-8. Tang's win gave him his team-leading 22nd of the 2024-25 campaign.

• Navy will have next week off before competing in the CSA Team Divisional Championships Feb. 28-March 2 at the Specter Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
