LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Taking on a top-flight field of competitors from across the youth, collegiate and U.S. National team ranks, Navy sophomore
Brian Solomon (Lynnfield, Mass.) finished 19th overall in the all-around competition as the USA Gymnastics' 2025 Winter Cup. One of over 45 gymnasts competing at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Solomon improved over the two-day meet to put himself on the radar for future USA Gymnastics meets.
"I'm really proud of Brian's performance over the weekend at the Winter Cup," remarked head coach Kip Simons. "This was the first time Brian competed on this national stage and while he had some challenges, I know overall the experience will prepare him for continued growth on the biggest stage. Brian wants to be successful on the national level and this was a step in the right direction for his development."
Solomon suited up as an all-around competitor and raised his hand 12 different times over the event that started on Friday evening and concluded on Sunday afternoon. On his first day of the meet, he placed 20th overall in the all-around standings with 69.75 points (among NCAA-only competitors, he ranked 12th). Among collegiate-only competitors, both scores were 14th-best.
Coming back a little less than 48 hours later on Sunday, Solomon improved on five of his events and increased his all-around score by nearly three points as he accumulated 72.00 points for his all-around effort on day two.
