Men’s Tennis Home Saturday to Face FDU and Villanova

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's tennis team returns to the Tose Family Tennis Center on Saturday when the Mids (6-2) play host to Fairleigh Dickinson (1-1) at 9 a.m. and Villanova (0-2) at noon.

Navy Review
The Mids ran their record on the young season to 6-2 with a pair of 6-1 victories over Long Island and Saint Joseph's last week in Annapolis.

Luke Garner is pacing the team with a 4-0 record in singles thus far in 2025.  Matching Garner in singles wins is Herrick Legaspi, who has posted a 4-2 record.

Garner also has tallied a 4-0 record in doubles through the first three weeks of the season.

Fairleigh Dickinson Preview    
The Knights travel to Annapolis for a Friday night match against Morgan State having lost to St. John's and defeated St. Thomas Aquinas this season.

FDU compiled a 13-7 overall record a year ago and finished the Northeast Conference regular season with a 6-1 mark.  The second-seeded Knights lost, 4-2, to third-seeded Saint Francis in the semifinal round of the NEC Tournament.

One of the losses for the Knights in 2024 was a 6-1 defeat to Navy in Annapolis. That was the seventh victory in seven matches for the Mids against FDU.

Villanova Preview
The Wildcats will face BYU Friday night in Pennsylvania before taking on the Mids Saturday.  Villanova has suffered defeats to Drexel and Delaware thus far this season.

The 2024 campaign for Villanova ended with the team having posted an overall record of 7-16 and a Big East Conference record of 1-3.  The Wildcats lost in the opening round of the conference tournament.

Navy registered a 5-2 victory over Villanova last season.  The Mids hold a 21-1 advantage over the Wildcats in the all-time series between the teams.
