SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- No. 43 Yale (9-4) narrowly won the doubles point on its way to posting a 4-0 victory over the Navy men's tennis team (12-10), Tuesday afternoon in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Rain halted play for awhile in Santa Barbara and also forced the cancelation of Navy's second match of the day at UC Riverside.

The Mids had a great chance to win all three doubles matches against the Bulldogs.  Navy's No. 3 team of Graydon Buckingham and Zach Quattro recorded a 6-3 victory over Walker Oberg and Aidan Reilly in the first match to finish.  Yale would win the remaining two flights, each of which were extended into tiebreakers that were determined by two points.

Yale's Eric Li and Edward Liao defeated J.J. Etterbeek and Herrick Legaspi by the score of 7-5 in the tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles. The Bulldogs secured the point when their No. 1 team of Jim Ji and Jason Shuler held off Luke Garner and Jake Young, 8-6, in the breaker.

Yale then won straight set matches at Nos. 3, 5 and 6 singles to close out play.

Navy will play matches Thursday at UC San Diego (1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT) and UC Irvine (5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT).

Schedule Change
In addition to Navy not being able to face UC Riverside today due to rain, the weather forecast has led to the team's match Friday at Point Loma be moved up a few hours to 3:30 p.m. ET / 12:30 p.m. PT.

Legaspi Named Player of the Week
Legaspi has been named this week's Patriot League Player of the Week as he posted a 5-0 record during Navy's three matches against Morgan State, Monmouth and Drexel.

He began the week by teaming with Tommy Kim for a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles and then winning a 6-0, 6-1 match at No. 1 singles against the Bears.  He only faced the Hawks in doubles, but Legaspi and Charlie Spencer recorded a 6-3 win at the No. 1 flight.  The Legaspi-Spencer pairing also defeated Drexel's No. 1 team, by that same score.  He then won a 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) match at No. 1 singles against the Dragons.
