ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy women's golf team returns to its home course this weekend, as the Midshipmen host Delaware in a match play event Saturday morning at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
Competition in the singles match play between the Mids and Blue Hens is slated to begin at 10 a.m. on the par-72, 6,084-yard course.
Match Play Format
Navy and Delaware will compete in a modified match play instead of the normal dual-match format, as the two teams will play seven singles matches … Singles competition will pit one player from each team against each other, hole after hole, with a point being awarded to the player with the lowest score at the end of the round … The winning golfer will earn a team point with a win, while a tie earns a half-point … If the teams are tied at the end of singles competition, there will be a one-person playoff to determine the team win.
Match Play History
This will mark the fourth time Navy has participated in a match play that only features single competition, going 1-2 in those previous matches … Saturday also marks the third-straight spring that the Mids and Blue Hens will face off in singles match play … The Mids dropped a sudden-death playoff hole to Delaware on March 25, 2023 after tying, 3-3, following the six singles matches in Annapolis, with Eve Worden,
Stephanie Lee and
Sue Lee all claiming victory … Navy then beat the Blue Hens, 5-3, in the April 6, 2024 event in Wilmington, Del., as

Bridget Hoang all won their matchups … Facing Maryland earlier this season on Oct. 12, Navy fell 4.5-3.5 to the Terps despite wins from

Keira Howard finished tied for second while Navy placed 14th in a 19-team field at the snow-shortened 2025 Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Ariz. … The three-day tournament was condensed from a 54-hole event to just 18 holes, as snow halted Friday's action and the resulting accumulation led to play to Saturday being postponed … Playing in their first event in a month and a half, the Midshipmen posted a 17-over par 305, three strokes behind 13th-place Wichita State … Competing as an individual, Howard found herself in a four-way tie for the runner-up spot at 2-under par 70 … Posting the best scores in Navy's lineup, senior captain

Scouting Delaware
Picking up two team titles during their five-tournament fall, the Blue Hens placed first in the Badger Invitational and their home Lady Blue Hens Invitational … Delaware then opened the spring by finishing seventh in the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational before joining the Mids at the Red Rocks Invitational, with the Blue Hens taking 11th at 299 and Mary Grace Dunigan tying Navy's Howard for individual runner-up … Dunigan was named CAA Golfer of the Week on Wednesday for her efforts … Alisa Khokhlova is pacing the Blue Hens with a 74.32 scoring average, while Lilia Henkel is right behind her with a 74.63 average round.
