ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy's
Maren Louridas,
Lysander Rehnstrom and
Carnegie Johnson were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for basketball in recognition of their success both on the court and in the classroom. The CSC made the announcement this week.
Recipients needed to be at least a sophomore in the classroom, carry a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and either compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games.
An honoree on the 2023-24 CSC All-District Team, Louridas is recognized with this national award for the second-straight year. A three-year starter for the Mids seeing time as both a guard and forward, Louridas has started 91 of a potential 92 games and scored 688 points for a 7.3 per game average, while passionately attacking the boards to the tune of 493 rebounds, a 5.4 per game clip. A trusted one-on-one defender, the Delmar, N.Y., native rarely leaves the court as she registered over 2,700 career minutes for a 29.4 per game mark. Her team's captain as just a junior, Louridas averaged 5.7 rebounds per contest this season, 10th best in the Patriot League. She grabbed 10 or more caroms in five games during the 2024-25 season.
Named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team earlier this month, Louridas is a standout in the classroom and has recorded a 4.0 grade point average in cyber operations over her first five semesters at the Naval Academy. Her success has resulted in her current top-10 ranking in both the Academy's Academic and Military Order of Merit for the Class of 2026.
Rehnstrom has compiled a 3.70 GPA as an operations research major. The men's team captain who also served as the "Captain of the Captains" for Navy's 36 varsity sports posted a 4.0 GPA in the fall semester and has earned academic accolades from the USNA in four of his seven terms.
He made 11 starts and played in all 34 games this season. Rehnstrom scored in double figures in four games and set a career high with 151 points and 43 three-point field goals made on the year. The future officer in the Marine Corps helped the Mids to a tie for third place in the Patriot League regular season standings and an appearance in the championship game of the league tournament for the second time in his career.
Johnson entered the spring semester with a 3.93 GPA. The sophomore political science major has received academic honors from Navy in two of his three completed semesters.
He totaled 87 points and 23 assists in 33 games this season after he recorded 11 points and 10 assists in 11 games during the 2023-24 campaign.
