ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy gymnastics team begins its run of postseason action this weekend with two days of competition as part of the 2025 USAG Collegiate Championships. The highest-scoring team in the field of six, the Mids will be host the event at the Halsey Field House Gymnastics Facility starting on Friday afternoon with the team contest at 2 p.m. and culminating with the event finals on Saturday with first touch set for 1 p.m. that afternoon. Navy will be looking to climb back atop the podium as the Mids won three straight USAG Championship in 2019, 2022 and 2023 before finishing as the runner-up last year.
No. 8 Navy will be one of six teams competing for the team title on Friday joining No. 10 William & Mary, No. 11 Air Force, No. 13 Army, No. 14 Springfield and No. 15 Simpson College. The competition is open to Division I, II or III, four-year institutions with gymnastics as a varsity sport that provide two or less full scholarships, as well as the military academies. In what promises to be an extremely competitive event, the top-four team in terms of average: Navy, William & Mary, Air Force and Army are separated by just 2.6 points on the national leaderboard for team scoring.
The Virtius platform will be used to score the two-day competition. Live video of Navy-only routines will be available through the team's Instagram Live account (@NavyGymnastics).

The postseason journey for the No. 9 Navy men's gymnastics team began with action at the 2024 USAG Collegiate Championship. Taking on a talented six-team field, in which the top-four programs were separated by just 2.6 points in scoring average entering Friday's competition, the Mids posted a season-high score of 398.25, but unfortunately came up just short of the host No. 10 Air Force Falcons' victorious score of 401.65. No. 11 Greenville University grabbed the final spot on the podium for the team event at Cadet West Gym with a 390.75 effort.
The remainder of the standings saw No. 12 Springfield place fourth at 388.35, while No. 14 William & Mary was fifth with a 381.35 score. No. 15 Simpson College rounded out the field with 358.85 points on Friday.
Individually, the Mids were led by 10 different gymnasts qualifying for Saturday's event finals.
Matthew Petros highlighted the team's success after placing first on the vault and parallel bars and tying for fifth on the high bar.

Riley Rose all turned in top-five results on individual events to bolster Navy's effort.
As a team, Navy scored 67.85 points on the floor exercise, 65.10 on the pommel horse, 63.95 on the rings, 69.90 on the vault, 65.55 on the parallel bars and 65.90 on the high bar. The Mids' floor exercise score was a season-high, while their high bar performance was the second-best of 2024.
On Saturday as part of the event finals, Petros led the way with silver medal-winning performances on the vault, parallel bars and high bar. As a team, Navy finished with 10 top-six podium results.

Last Time Out: vs. Greenville on March 14 in Annapolis
The No. 8 Navy gymnastics team closed out its regular season with a gutsy come-from-behind victory at home versus No. 11 Greenville on Friday afternoon. Separated by just 2.4 points in the national leaderboard coming into the day, the Mids ran into a game Panther squad that pushed the hosts to their limit at the Halsey Field House Gymnastics Facility. After leading through the first four rotations by a slim 0.4-point margin, Navy dropped 2.3 points to Greenville on the parallel bars to set the scene for a dramatic turn on the high bar that saw the Mids swing the final decision back in their favor by 0.6 points, 312.50-311.90.
Competing in his final home regular season meet,
Isaiah Drake was a standout for the Mids with first place results on all three events in which he posted scores, the rings, vault and high bar. He dominated the rings with a 0.75-point margin of victory and was strong on the high bar with a 0.6-point differential. The vault rotation was hotly-contested as he edged the field by 0.15 points. Additional flag-bearers for Navy on Friday were
Benjamin Thurlow Lam on the floor exercise and
Saran Alexander on the pommel horse.
As a team, Navy scored 51.75 points on the floor exercise, 51.5 on the pommel horse, 52.7 on the rings, 54.75 on the vault, 49.7 on the parallel bars and 52.1 on the high bar. The Mids' rings performance resulted in a season-best score.
Parking
Vehicle access to the U.S. Naval Academy is limited to those with a Department of Defense identification card ... Spectators may park outside of the USNA grounds and enter the Academy through the visitors' entrance located at Gate One at the corner of King George and Randall Streets (52 King George St.). Anyone under the age of 18, and who does not have a government-issued ID, must be accompanied by an adult. Halsey Field House is located directly to the right of the visitors' entrance.
