ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Three members of the Navy diving team will compete at this week's NCAA Zone A Diving Championship being contested at the Rutgers Aquatics Complex in Piscataway, N.J. The event runs Monday through Wednesday and will determine the zone's qualifiers for the NCAA Championship.
Live results from the meet can be found at divemeets.com (note: a slightly different link within DiveMeets.com will be used each day). The Rutgers YouTube page will provide a video stream of the meet.
The zone's automatic qualifiers for the women's NCAA Championship will be those who place in the top seven on the one-meter board, top six in the three-meter event and top five in the platform competition. The men's qualifiers will be those who finish in the top four in one meter, top five in three meter and top five in platform.
Competing for Navy at the meet are
Mackenzie Kim,
Finn Gelbach and
Anthony Sciulli.
Kim will compete in both springboard events and in platform diving. The year's Patriot League Diver of the Year after she won both boards at the league meet will be making her third trip to the zone championship. Last year she placed 10th on the one meter, 11th on the three meter and 18th in the platform event.
Gelbach, who was the 2024 league diver of the year, took part in all three events at the 2024 zone meet. He finished in seventh place in platform diving, ninth place in the three-meter event and 27th place on the one meter. Gelbach placed second in both events at this year's Patriot League Championship. He will compete in both springboard events at this week's zone meet.
Sciulli, who placed third on the three-meter board and fourth in the one-meter event at the recent league championship, is making his third trip to the zone meet. Last year he placed 19th in platform diving, 31st in the one-meter event and 47th on the three-meter board.
