With 4-0 Win on Friday, Navy Now Set to Face No. 2 Boston in Saturday’s Semifinal Round

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Securing its 15th-straight appearance in the league's semifinals, the No. 3-seed Navy women's tennis team (17-11) posted a 4-0 victory over sixth-seeded Loyola (13-6) in Friday's quarterfinal round to open up the 2025 Patriot League Tournament at the J.W. Abrahamson Tennis Courts in Hamilton, N.Y.

With the win, the Midshipmen earned a spot in Saturday's semifinal round and a 2 p.m. rematch with No. 2 Boston University, continuing Navy's pursuit of a second-straight league title.

After sophomore Manci Pal and freshman Emma Gu opened the quarterfinal showdown with a 6-3 win over the Greyhounds' Jessica Bodewes and Christine Richiez at the No. 2 spot, the Mids clinched the doubles point with the top pairing of senior Emily Tannenbaum and sophomore Olivia Fermo defeating the duo of Loyola's Lauren Manwiller and Emma Roeck in at 7-5 battle.

Tannenbaum then put Navy up 2-0 with her dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory against Richiez in the No. 1 singles flight, while Gu put the Mids on the edge of advancing when she beat Bodewes, 6-1, 6-0, on the fifth court.

Sending Navy to the semifinals was senior captain Kate Lee, who posted a 6-3, 6-1 win over Emi Shivkumar on the sixth court for her eighth-straight singles victory this spring.

With further play abandoned, freshmen Grace Li and Molly Bellia and senior Parvathi Shanker had won their first sets and were ahead in their second sets when Lee clinched the semifinal berth.
