Navy Football Picked to Win the American by Lindy’s College Football Magazine

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—The Navy football team was picked to finish first in the American Conference by Lindy's College Football Magazine. Tulane was picked to finish second and Memphis third. 
 
The magazine ranked Navy as the 43rd best team in the country with only Boise State (26th) ahead of the Mids among schools not in an autonomy conference.  Tulane was ranked 45th and Memphis 47th.
 
Senior quarterback Blake Horvath, senior snipe Eli Heidenreich, senior nose guard Landon Robinson and senior corner Andrew Duhart were named preseason First Team All-American Conference.
 
Senior running back Alex Tecza and senior guard Ben Purvis were named to the second team.
 
Three Navy games were listed among the Top 10 biggest games for the American: Nov. 10 at Notre Dame, Nov. 27 at Memphis and the Dec. 13 Army-Navy game presented by USAA in Baltimore.
 
Robinson was ranked as the fourth best NFL prospect in the American, while senior wide receiver Nathan Kent was ranked sixth.
 
Horvath was named the preseason American Conference Offensive Player of the Year, while Robinson was named the preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Horvath was ranked as the 24th best quarterback in the country by the magazine, while Robinson ranked as the 10th best defensive tackle in the country.
 
Tecza was named as the toughest player to tackle in the American, Kent as the most dangerous deep threat and Duhart as the best cover corner.
