ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams were recognized for their academic success during the 2025 spring semester by being designated as Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

Teams needed to attain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00 during the spring term to earn the accolade.  The women's team compiled a 3.23 GPA to garner the award for the 15th semester in a row and the men's team tallied a 3.17 GPA to earn the laurel for the 11th time in the last 13 semesters.

The CSCAA also honored Ben Irwin, Finn Gelbach and Gavin Green from the men's team as recipients of the Scholar All-American award.  Individuals needed to post a GPA of at least 3.50 during the spring term and also attain an NCAA Championship A or B cut effort to receive Scholar-All-America honors.  Swimmers and divers who met the grade-point average and competed at the NCAA Championship received first-team accolades, while those who reached the academic standard and were not selected for the NCAA Championship garnered second-team laurels.

Irwin garnered a first-team nod this year after he was a second-team honoree last year.  The rising junior qualified to compete at the NCAA Championship in three events (100 back, 200 back, 200 fly) and earned a 3.78 GPA as an operations research major.

Gelbach was named to the second team for the first time in his career this season.  The rising junior posted NCAA Zone Diving Championship scores in both springboard events and recorded a 3.66 GPA as a data science major during the spring term.

Green also earned a second-team award this season for the first time.  The rising senior met the NCAA B cut standard in the 100 breaststroke and posted a 3.91 GPA as a mathematics with economics major.
