Navy Junior Safety Seth English on the 2025 Comeback Player of the Year Award Watch List

ANNAPOLIS, Md.-- College Sports Communicators in association with The Associated Press (AP) and Fiesta Sports Foundation, today released a "Watch List" of 75 college football student-athletes from 51 different schools currently under consideration for the 2025 Comeback Player of the Year Award
 
Included on that list is Navy junior safety Seth English, who missed all of 2024 with a knee injury.  A 2023 graduate of Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Ind., English attended P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School in Gainesville, Fla. his first three years of high school where he was a three-sport athlete who earned letters in basketball (3), football (2) and track & field (1).
 
English garnered First-Team All-County football honors as a junior and helped lead Jefferson to the Sectional Championship his senior year.
 
English's father, Ron, who is a 1991 graduate of Cal and played football for the Bears (1987-90), is in his third year as the defensive coordinator at Louisville.  He he has had previous coaching stints at San Diego State (1996-97), Arizona State (1998-02), Michigan (2003-07), Louisville (2008), Eastern Michigan (2009-13, head coach), San Jose State (2016), Mississippi State (2017), Florida (2018-20) and Purdue (2021-22).
 
Since 2018, the award has recognized college football student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness, or other circumstances.  At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of college football writers, editors, and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes are honored as Comeback Player of the Year Award winners at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.
