Schwemmer Named Assistant Diving Coach

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Anne Schwemmer, who shared the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Men's Diving Coach-of-the-Year award, has been named the assistant diving coach at Navy, head coach Tim Fisher announced today.

"We are excited to have Anne aboard," said Fisher, who received the 2025 Patriot League Men's and Women's Diving Coach-of-the-Year awards.  "She brings a wealth of experience and energy that will compliment our team and help take us to the next level. Anne is a highly respected coach among her peers and comes to us after a very successful tenure at UNLV. The future of Navy Diving continues to get brighter. GO NAVY!"

"I am both excited and grateful for the opportunity to work at such a prestigious institution," said Schwemmer.  "Throughout my career I have sworn by the idea that a great coach is built by the caliber of the people around them, and I cannot wait to learn from both the athletes and staff here."

Schwemmer spent the last four seasons as the head diving coach at UNLV.  During that time her divers accounted for 21 berths in championship finals at the WAC Championship, with those results highlighted by Alejandro Vazquez winning the men's three-meter title at the 2025 meet.  He was one of five UNLV divers to qualify for the NCAA Zone Championship this spring, which was an increase from the two who qualified for the meet in Schwemmer's first season (2022).  The Rebels sent 15 divers to the zone meet over her four seasons.  Vazquez would advance from the 2025 zone meet to the NCAA Championship, becoming the first UNLV diver to do so in six seasons.

The UNLV women's divers also competed at the Mountain West Conference Championship.  Seven divers from the program advanced to the championship finals in one of the three events under Schwemmer, including Viktoriia Yanosvka who became the only UNLV diver to win an event at the meet (26 years) when she won the one-meter board at the 2024 championship.

Additionally, Schwemmer's divers set new UNLV records in five of the six events.

Schwemmer dove for her hometown City of Midland Diving (Midland, Texas) for five years as a youth.  Also a volleyball player, she earned a scholarship in the sport as an outside hitter and middle blocker at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill.  Schwemmer had knee surgery prior to the start of her freshman season which ended her playing career.  She transferred to North Texas after her freshman year and graduated from the school in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature.

Schwemmer returned to City of Midland Diving upon graduation in several roles, including interim head coach.  She eventually became an assistant coach at Florida State in the fall of 2014.  Schwemmer stayed in Tallahassee through the end of the 2017-18 season after having helped produce 10 NCAA Championship qualifiers.  She also worked with two-time Olympian Katrina Young through her coaching role with the Tomahawk Diving Club.

Schwemmer served as the UNLV interim head coach from December 2021 to April 2022 before being elevated to the head coach in May 2022.  She also was the head coach and program director at Team Rebel Aquatics Diving during her time in Las Vegas.
