ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy offshore sailing team continued the fall schedule this past weekend with a pair of home regattas in Annapolis, placing third in the intercollegiate Shields Trophy and tallying a 10th-place finish at the Hospice Cup.
Â
Competing in the 10-team Shields Trophy field aboard the Navy 44 fleet, the Midshipmen battled through some patience-testing conditions on Saturday and Sunday, with light winds and busy waters creating some challenging racing for all crews. After being disqualified from the second of four races on Saturday, the Navy crew claimed first in the third race, recovering from previous mistakes and sailing well the rest of the weekend to finish third overall behind first-place College of Charleston and runner-up Merchant Marine. The Mids' boat saw skipper
Colin Caraher guide a crew consisting of

Navy also had a pair of crews competing in the J/105 division at the Hospice Cup on Saturday, with the crew of the CONSTELLATION posting the best performance of the duo in similar conditions to the Shields Trophy. With
