BETHLEHEM, PA. // After earning individual medalist honors and leading the Navy men's golf team to a second-place finish at The Goat over the weekend, the Mids' team captain
Jack Tarzy (Sr / Medford, N.J.) has been named the Patriot League Men's Golfer of the Week the league office announced on Wednesday. Additionally, Tarzy was named the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for his performance.
Tarzy was sensational throughout the weekend, earning medalist honors for the first time in his career by shooting an 8-under par 205 (66-71-68) en route to a 5-stroke victory over Georgetown's Barnes Blake. The three-year letter winner's 8-under par 205 was the third-lowest 54-hole score in relation to par in program history and the lowest since NIcholas Klock shot a 13-under par 200 at the Georgetown Intercollegiate on Oct. 10-11, 2021.
Tarzy was the only player among the field to shoot par or under in all three rounds (-5, 66 / E, 71 / -3, 68), as he became just the fifth Mid to win a Navy-hosted fall tournament since 1992 (Billy Hurley '03 / August Jonas '11 / Griffin Peters '15 / Connor Tallman '16 /
Jack Tarzy '25).
Meanwhile, Navy, as a team, placed second with an 11-over par 863. It was the third-lowest 54-hole score in relation to par by the Mids in program history and the lowest since they shot a 2-under par 850 at the Phoenix Invitational Oct. 14-15, 2019.
Navy will use this week to prepare for the Commander-In-Chief's Cup against rivals Army and Air Force which is slated to be played Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
