Margin of Excellence

Midshipman Voices - Gurneé Performance Center

Last Fall, Michelle Gurneé W'61 made a generous contribution to the Men's and Women's Golf teams to upgrade the Gurneé Performance Center at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course. Navy Women's Golf Captain, Hallie Brisco '26, stated, "the Gurneé Performance Center has been incredible for our team. Having multiple hitting bays with TrackMan technology gives us the ability to practice year-round and get immediate feedback on our game. It's made a huge impact on both our development as individual players and our success as a team as we continue to compete at the national level."

Not only was the Gurneé Perforce Center fully renovated on both the interior and exterior, but it's fully equipped with high-tech performance devices that assist player and coaches in their development. With five hitting bays placed indoors and new TrackMan technology, Navy Men's Golf Captain, Jack Tarzy '26, made note that the Gurneé Performance Center "allows us to prepare for our spring season, and without it I do not know how we would compete near the level we aspire to. Our schedule and competition is tough, and this [Gurneé Performance] Center is an integral tool in our preparation and growth as players and as a team. The Gurneé Performance Center has had a huge impact on my development, and will continue to impact generations of Naval Academy Golfers."

Both the Men's and Women's Golf teams are a few weeks into their fall season and have already seen the benefits of the Gurneé Performance Center. The Navy Men's Golf team recently tied for 16th place at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. As for the Navy Women's Golf team, they are gearing up for the Navy Fall Invitational this October 4th and 5th at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.
