BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its weekly cross country awards and Navy had a pair of student-athletes recognized for their efforts at the Gans Creek Classic last weekend. Justin Mumford was named Men's Runner of the Week, while Juliet Frum picked up her second Women's Rookie of the Week honor.
 
Mumford, who was competing in his first meet of the season, led the Midshipmen with a time of 23:27.7 to finish 58th among the 237 runners who finished the race. Navy finished 28th among the 31 teams that competed in a stacked field that consisted of 24 teams that were ranked or receiving votes in the national poll. Mumford started the race in 148th at the first check point, moving up 90 spots among the elite field of athletes by the finish line.
 
Frum was Navy's top freshman clocking a time of 21:35.9 to finish third on the squad. She helped lead the Navy women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish (out of 26 teams) in the Women's 6K Black race of the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. on Friday morning to finish in 41st among the 236 competitors in the field.
 
Up next, the Midshipmen returns to action on Friday, Oct. 3 at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa. Competition for the Mids begins with the men's open race at 9:30 a.m. with the women's open race starting at 10:15 a.m. The men's collegiate race is slated for 11:00 a.m. with the women to follow at 11:45 a.m.
