PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Navy men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to Penn Sunday at the Hecht Tennis Center in Philadelphia as the Quakers (2-0) registered 7-0 and 6-1 victories over the Mids (2-2) in the doubleheader.

Navy had a great chance to win the doubles point in the second match of the day between the teams.  Penn's Manfredi Graziani and Aaron Sandler, the No. 8 doubles team in the country after the pair advance to the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament this fall, recorded a 6-4 win over Jason Kim and Tommy Kim at the No. 1 flight.  The set was tied at 4-4 when the Penn players recorded a break of serve and then held serve to close out the match.  The Quakers secured the point when their No. 3 tandem of Shaurya Bharadwaj and Vojtech Vales defeated Lachlan Buckingham and Ethan Garcia by winning a 7-3 tiebreaker.

Posting the victory on the day for the Mids was Garcia, who defeated Sanjeev Chundu, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4), at No. 6 singles.

Also having a close singles match was Buckingham as he lost a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Nischal Spurling at No. 5 singles in the morning match.

Graziani, who also is ranked 41st nationally in singles recorded three wins on the day.

Navy will play a pair of matches Saturday in Binghamton, N.Y., against both Niagara (10 a.m.) and Binghamton (3 p.m.)
