ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy gymnastics team will host its annual multi-team Navy Open this Saturday afternoon in Annapolis. An early-season staple of the Mids' schedule year-in and year-out, the 2026 Navy Open will feature ECAC conference foes Springfield and William & Mary, as well as club teams Temple University, Massachusetts Militia and North Carolina Airmen. Part of the weekend-long Navy Gymnastics Challenge, the collegiate meet will take center stage beginning at 2 p.m. at the Halsey Field House Gymnastics Facility.
Live stats will be provided through the RoadToNationals website, while the Navy Gymnastics YouTube page is scheduled to have live video coverage.

Navy began the home portion of its 2025 schedule with action at the Navy Open on January 18. Competing as one of six teams in a mixed field of collegiate and club programs, the Mids recorded a third-place score of 303.15. The entire leaderboard for Saturday saw William & Mary edge Springfield by 0.85 points, 306.15 to 305.30 with Navy right behind in third.
As a team, Navy scored 52.85 points on the floor exercise, 44.9 on the pommel horse, 48.7 on the rings, 54.75 on the vault, 50.95 on the parallel bars and 51.0 on the high bar.
Individually,
Brian Solomon paced the Mids' effort as he finished first among floor exercise and all-around competitors and was just 0.05 points shy of both the vault and rings' titles.
Benjamin Thurlow Lam and
William Champagne also turned in second-place results on the floor and parallel bars, respectively.

Last Time Out: January 16-17 at West Point Open
Navy challenged itself on Friday with action at the six-team West Point Open. Following an evening of competition, the Mids posted a score of 302.55 to finish third overall in the team meet behind Penn State and the hosts, Army. The Nittany Lions posted a winning score of 313.50 with the Black Knights coming in 4.1 points ahead of the Mids at 306.65.
As a team, Navy scored 49.6 points on the floor exercise, 51.5 on the pommel horse, 49.45 on the rings, 54.05 on the vault, 48.65 on the parallel bars and 49.3 on the high bar. The Mids' ring effort was second best in the field, while their vault and high bar results were third in the field.
Brian Solomon and
Jonah Soltz competed as all-arounders for Navy on Friday night and posted cumulative scores of 77.55 and 73.60, to place third and seventh, respectively. Solomon came within 1.0 point of Penn State's Landon Simpson, who finished first at 78.55 and Penn State's Akseli Karsikas, who posted the second-best score at 78.35.
In terms of Midshipmen that advanced to Saturday's event finals, Solomon led the squad as he'll compete again in the finals for the pommel horse and parallel bars. Additionally, Soltz will join his teammate as one of eight contenders in the field for the pommel horse. In total, six Mids qualified for event finals led by second-place results by
Matthew Petros on the vault and
Boone Washburn on the high bar.
Navy had an anti-climatic end to its weekend in New York as inclement weather in the area left the team unable to make it back to West Point to compete in the event finals of the 2026 West Point Open on Saturday night.
Parking
Vehicle access to the U.S. Naval Academy is limited to those with a Department of Defense identification card ... Spectators may park outside of the USNA grounds and enter the Academy through the visitors' entrance located at Gate One at the corner of King George and Randall Streets (52 King George St.). Anyone under the age of 18, and who does not have a government-issued ID, must be accompanied by an adult. Halsey Field House is located directly to the right of the visitors' entrance.
**Starting May 7, 2025, in accordance with The Real ID Act of 2005, visitors entering through the Pedestrian Gate 1 Visitor Control Center or accessing the USNA through the fan shuttle bus for a game should be prepared to present a REAL ID-compliant driver's license, U.S. Passport, enhanced state-issued ID, or another acceptable form of identification, to access federal facilities. Foreign passports are NOT permitted for general access.
