ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The first of back-to-back three-match weekends awaits the Navy women's tennis team (5-3), as the Midshipmen get set to travel Saturday to Virginia Tech (2-1) at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Va., before returning home Sunday for a doubleheader at the Tose Family Tennis Center against Villanova (3-4) and George Mason (3-0).
 
Saturday's match with the Hokies is slated for 11 a.m., while Sunday's double-dip will see the Midshipmen play the Wildcats at 10 a.m. before facing the Patriots at 2 p.m.
 
Amspacher-Philemon Named PL Player of the Week
Following a strong individual performance over the weekend, Navy sophomore Peyton Amspacher-Philemon was named the Patriot League Player of the Week on Tuesday … The sophomore posted a combined 3-0 record for the Mids to help them split Saturday's doubleheader, including being a dominant force in Navy's 6-1 win over Mount St. Mary's … Amspacher-Philemon now sits at 3-0 in singles play this spring and 5-0 in doubles dual action … The award marks Amspacher-Philemon's first weekly league honor of her career and the Mids' second weekly accolade of the season after freshman Nicole Fu claimed the award on Jan. 27.
 
Scouting the Mids
Leading the team with a 18-4 singles record is freshman Nicole Fu, while junior Olivia Fermo ranks second on the Mids with a 15-6 singles mark … Fermo and Fu have partnered to post a team-leading 12-7 doubles record … Sophomore Grace Li and freshman Anna Wiskowski have gone 4-0 as a doubles pairing so far, while junior Anna Jordaan and sophomore Peyton Amspacher-Philemon have also notched a 4-0 doubles mark together … Overall, Fermo has a team-best 13 doubles wins.

Highlighted by freshman Nicole Fu's 2-0 day on the singles courts, Navy pulled out the doubleheader split last Saturday by bouncing back from a 5-2 loss to Liberty with a 6-1 victory against Mount St. Mary's in Annapolis … The twin-bill results improved the Midshipmen's home record to 5-1, with the nightcap win helping Navy snap a three-match skid … With a doubles win over Liberty, Jordaan and Amspacher-Philemon have won four-straight doubles matches together … For Fu, she improved to a team-best 5-2 dual singles record with her pair of wins.
 
Scouting Virginia Tech
After opening the spring with wins over Appalachian State and IU Indy, the Hokies suffered their first loss of the season, 4-1, at Indiana on Sunday … Alston Myatt and Laima Frosch lead Virginia Tech with nine singles wins each, with Myatt going 8-1 in the fall tournaments … Frosch and Elizaveta Castillo lead the way in doubles play, posting a 4-2 overall mark with a 1-1 spring record … Virginia Tech finished last season at 13-12 overall, going 2-10 in ACC action.
 
Scouting Villanova
Holding a 3-4 record this spring, the Wildcats have bounced back after a slow start by posting at Seton Hall, 4-3, and Lehigh, 5-2 … The win over Seton Hall also marked Villanova's first BIG EAST victory of the season … The Wildcats ended last season with a 12-12 record while posting a 4-1 conference mark.
