COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Navy rifle team completed the first day of competition at the 2026 NCAA Championship at the Covelli Center on the campus of Ohio State University, finishing the smallbore portion of the two-day match in sixth place with a team score of 2346.
#5 Ole Miss finished the day with the lead, shooting a 2356 team score. The Rebels were followed by #2 Nebraska and #3 TCU who tied for second with a combined smallbore score of 2354. One point back was #1 Kentucky and #4 West Virginia who tied for fourth with a tally of 2353. #7 Navy was sixth overall with a score of 2346 with #8 Georgia Southern (2338 points) and #6 Alaska Fairbanks (2334 points) rounding out the team scoring.
Four of Navy's five shooters finished the smallbore portion of the competition with a score of 580 or higher.
Freshman
Tyler Wee led the charge for the Midshipmen with a smallbore score of 591. The freshman registered 31 centers in his first NCAA Championship competition. The younger Wee brother started the day with a 195 through the kneeling portion of the smallbore shooting. He upped his score with a 198 in prone and 198 in standing for his final score of 591.
Competing in his final NCAA Championship, senior
Parker Haydin recorded a smallbore score of 590. The Texas native recorded a team-high 36 centers on the day. He totaled 399 out of a possible 400 points through the first 40 shots, including a perfect 200 in prone.
Junior
Isabella Baldwin posted a smallbore score of 585. After a 193 (out of 200) in kneeling, she posted a 198 in prone for a 391 heading into the final 20 shots. In standing, Baldwin shot a 194 to give her a final score of 585. The Nashville native finished the first day of the NCAAs with 32 total centers.
Junior
Ryan Wee started the day in the first relay for the Midshipmen, posting a score of 580. The older Wee brother connected on 27 centers. The junior posted a score of 196 in kneeling with a 197 in prone, finishing the day with 187 in standing.
Senior team captain
Catherine Dely rounded out the scoring for the Midshipmen. The Indiana native posted a score of 563 on the day, hitting 20 centers in her final NCAA Championship. Dely excelled in prone finishing with a 197 (out of 200) through her 20 shots in the second leg of the smallbore competition.
Navy concludes competition in the 2026 NCAA Championship on Saturday as the team will compete in the air rifle portion of the match. Action will get underway Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with the air rifle portion of the championship. Free
