SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The No. 9 Navy men's gymnastics team closed out the regular season portion of its 2026 schedule on Saturday with a complete top-to-bottom performance that saw the squad post scores of 50.0-plus points on every apparatus on its way to a season-high 314.65-point outing. Going up against No. 11 Springfield and Temple's club team, Navy defeated the Pride by 9.7 points (314.65-304.95) and the Owls by 34.55 points (314.65-280.10) at Blake Arena on the campus of Springfield College.

Benjamin Thurlow Lam (Jr., San Francisco, Calif.) kept up his run of outstanding performances as he posted a score of 14.0 that tied teammate
Danilo Viciana (Sr., Marietta, Ga.) for first place in the event. Additionally,
Matthew Petros (Sr., Broadview Heights, Ohio) gave the Mids their second event winner of the day as he cleared the field by 0.25 points on the parallel bars.
As a team, Navy scored 55.10 points on the floor exercise, 51.30 on the pommel horse, 50.25 on the rings, 55.05 on the vault, 51.55 on the parallel bars and 51.40 on the high bar. The Mids' vault and p-bars scores were season-highs as previously their best vault effort was a 54.90 at the Navy Open, while they posted a 51.55 on the parallel bars two weeks ago at Illinois.
As part of the protocol for a three-team meet, Navy started on the rings on Saturday. The junior duo of
Julian Galvez (Burtonsville, Md.) and
Brian Solomon (Lynnfield, Mass.) led the Mids' performance on the rings as they finished back-to-back in second and third place with respective scores of 12.9 and 12.7.
Aaron Stein (Sr., Houston, Texas) tied for fifth with Springfield's Gustavin Suess courtesy of his 12.35 score.
Navy next moved to the floor exercise and dominated the event with a sweep of the top-three finishers. Thurlow Lam and Viciana shared top honors with matching 14.0 scores. After consecutive weeks of 14.1 scores, Thurlow Lam reached the 14-point threshold once again on Saturday. In Viciana's case this was a new career-high score for the event as his previous best was a 13.7 two weeks ago at Illinois.
Daniel Gurevich (Jr., Frisco, Texas) completed the sweep with a 13.75 effort.
The Mids concluded the first half of the meet on the pommel horse and thrived there as well with three of the top-six scores. Gurevich led Navy's lineup with a 13.3 result.
Kody Tokunaga (Fr., Palatine, Ill.) finished just 0.05 points out of third as he had to settle for fourth place after earning a 13.1 score.
Jonah Soltz (So., Tacoma, Wash.) also was edged out of position by 0.05 points as Springfield's Evan Reichert held him off for fifth place, 12.8 to 12.75.
The fourth rotation saw Navy begin on the high bar. The Mids' depth shine in this event as all four of its gymnasts placed in the top six. Spearheaded by
Boone Washburn (So., Lake Oswego, Ore.), the Mids finished second, third, fourth and sixth, respectively. Washburn came in runner-up to Springfield's Owen Carney with a score of 13.15. Petros and Soltz finished right behind their teammate with 12.95 and 12.8 respective scores.
Misha Romo (So., Los Alamitos, Calif.) rounded out the lineup with a 12.5 result to rank sixth in the field.
The action next flipped to the vault for Navy. A tie for second place between Solomon, Petros and Temple's Amir El-Moslemany highlighted the event for the Mids as all three competitors earned 13.9 scores. Soltz continued his strong workman-like effort as he came in fifth with a 13.8 score.
With the overall competition result all but sealed up, Navy closed out the meet in fine form with a sweep of the top-three positions on the parallel bars and all four of its gymnasts in the top six. Petros picked up his first victory of the season on the apparatus with a winning score of 13.4. Solomon and Soltz ended up within 0.05 points of each other as Solomon came in second at 13.15 with Soltz right behind with a 13.1 result.
Cody Phillips (Fr., Coopersburg, Pa.) wrapped up the lineup's performance with a score of 11.9 the tied for sixth overall.
With the regular season now complete, Navy will turn its attention to the next five weeks of postseason action. First up is the 2026 USAG Collegiate Championship hosted by the Air Force Academy. The Mids will head out to Colorado Springs next weekend as the defending champions. First touch for the two-day competition is at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 20.
