BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After sweeping the major on-court playing honors from the Patriot League for the 2025-26 season on Friday, the Navy women's basketball team was back in the news on Monday as senior Maren Louridas was announced as a member of the 2025-26 Patriot League All-Academic Team. Recognized for the third straight season, Louridas, the Mids' team captain was selected as one of the league's top ten best student-athletes for her work on and off the court. With Monday's honor she becomes the first player in program history to earn spots on the Patriot League All-Academic Team three times in their career.

The Naval Academy's Captain of Captains, Louridas continues to be a standout in the classroom as she has a flawless 4.0 GPA as a cyber operations major. Following commissioning in May, she will join the fleet as a member of the Naval Maritime Cyber Warfare Officer. Louridas was one of just eight Midshipmen in the Class of 2026 to earn this prestigious assignment. Not just on the top of her game in the classroom, the Delmar, New York native is ranked third in the Naval Academy's Military Order of Merit.

On the hardwood, Louridas has been a pivotal piece to the Mids' turnaround from a 1-29 season in 2022-23 to first place in the Patriot League with crisp 21-7 mark and hosting responsibilities for the upcoming Patriot League Tournament. Named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team in 2022-23, she has transitioned from a go-to scorer to a player who brings instant energy and a willingness to do anything to earn her squad a victory. Louridas has appeared in 27 games for the Mids as a senior in 2025-26 and was in the starting lineup for 10 of those contests. In just under 300 minutes of combined action this season, she averaged 1.9 points and 2.5 rebounds, while shooting 42.6 percent from the floor. All-time, Louridas has suited up in 119 of a possible 120 games in her four years; the one game she missed in November of 2025 was when she was interviewing with the Rhodes Scholarship program. Additionally, she has started 101 of those contests with 3,000 cumulative career minutes to her name. Louridas' games started statistic ranks eighth in program history, while her game total is ninth all-time.

Navy student-athletes have now been named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team on six total occasions since the team award was established in 2011. Prior to the introduction of the Patriot League All-Academic Team, Courtney Davidsion was a two-time Patriot League Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2003 and 2004.

Louridas and her Navy teammates are hours away from kicking off action in the 2025-26 Patriot League Tournament. Seeded first overall in the field, the Mids begin play on Monday night with a matchup versus the eighth-seeded Boston University Terriers. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Alumni Hall.
