ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Rising junior snipe
Charles Robinson was named the 2026 Admiral Mack Award winner by Navy head football coach
Brian Newberry on Monday afternoon. The Admiral Mack Award is presented to the most improved player during spring drills, as voted on by the coaching staff.
The Vice Admiral William P. Mack Award was initiated in 1976 and is named in honor of Vice Adm. William P. Mack, the Naval Academy superintendent from 1972-75, who was a strong supporter of the school's intercollegiate athletic program.
Robinson, who came to Navy as a quarterback and moved to snipe after his freshman year, had a standout spring after playing in 13 games in the fall. Robinson carried the ball 10 times for 33 yards and caught two passes for 21 yards during Navy's 11-2 season.
"Improvement is the truest measure of character," said Newberry. "In our program, we value development just as much as performance. The Admiral Mack Award stands for leadership, discipline and the daily commitment to get better. We had several deserving candidates this year, but one player separated himself.
Charles Robinson has shown up every day with a relentless commitment to growth. He's embraced the work, attacked every challenge and turned his potential into real performance."
"We are very proud of Charles," said offensive coordinator
Drew Cronic. "He is ready to take the next step into a starting role for our offense. His improvement over the past year has been excellent. He has put on 20 pounds of muscle, you can see his confidence grow every day, and he consistently made plays and produced for our offense during spring practice."
"It was awesome to see Charles grow and improve constantly this spring," said snipes coach
David Cole. "He is a joy to coach, and I'm excited to watch him compete this upcoming season."
Robinson is a 2023 graduate of The Webb School of Knoxville in Knoxville, Tenn. He attended the Naval Academy Preparatory School during the 2023-24 academic year. Robinson was a two-time (junior, senior) Tennessee Sports Writers Association Division II-AA all-state selection in football.
