Navy’s Roanin Krieger Named Finalist for 2026 Rudy Scholz Award

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Roanin Krieger of the Navy men's rugby team was voted as one of four finalists for the 2026 Rudy Scholz Award, presented annually by the Washington Athletic Club to the top men's collegiate rugby player in the country.

The finalists were selected by a public vote. The Scholz Award panel will choose the winner next weekend, who will be honored at a gala June 13 at the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle.

Joining Krieger as finalists are Dom Besag (Saint Mary's), Solomon Williams (California) and Logan Ballinger (Life).

"I am incredibly honored to be selected as a finalist for the Rudy Scholz Award," Krieger said. "It's a huge testament to how hard this team has worked this season. It's a privilege to be recognized, but the real credit goes to the guys pushing me every day at practice. Regardless of the outcome, I'm just proud to represent this team and everything we've built together this year."

Krieger is Navy's top scorer this season with 175 points. The senior leads the Midshipmen with 61 conversions and 11 penalty kicks, and has run in four tries. He has started and scored in all 12 games this season, highlighted by a 30-point performance in a 65-3 victory over Mary Washington in September.

The Placerville, Calif., native finished with 10 points in Navy's 35-21 playoff semifinal victory against Life last Saturday. Krieger went 5-5 on conversion kicks to help the Mids punch their ticket to the national championship game.

Navy will face top-ranked California at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis.
