ANNAPOLIS, Md. – A pair of Navy baseball players were honored by the Patriot League on Monday after big performances in the series win over Lehigh, as senior infielder
Victor Izquierdo was named the league's Player of the Week and junior right-hander
Brady Bendik earned Pitcher of the Week from the league office.

The duo was instrumental in the Midshipmen taking two of three from the Mountain Hawks, as Bendik tossed a complete-game shutout in the series opener and Izquierdo batted .444 and accounted for seven of Navy's runs over the series.

Izquierdo went 4-for-9 with three doubles on the weekend, walking five times and stealing four bases while scoring three times and driving in four more runs. The senior infielder was also perfect in the field on 25 chances. Izquierdo started the series with a two-hit opener, tallying two RBI and a steal, while Saturday's nightcap saw him walk three times and swipe two bases, helping Navy get two wins. The senior then racked up two runs scored and two RBI on Sunday, ripping two doubles and walking twice while stealing another base.

For Bendik, he was dominant in his start against Lehigh, throwing a complete-game two-hit shutout in Navy's 2-0 series-opening win. Going all seven innings, the junior righty struck out nine Mountain Hawks to just three walks. Bendik allowed just two runners to reach scoring position all game, giving up just one hit through the first six frames. Rebounding after giving up his only extra-base hit of the contest to start the seventh, Bendik bore down with three-straight strikeouts secure the win and lock up his first complete game of the campaign and his fifth-career complete game.

On the season, Izquierdo currently leads the Mids with a .297 average along with 24 runs scored and 23 RBI, while also racking up a team-best nine doubles and 13 steals. Among the league leaders in several categories, Bendik holds a team-low 1.78 ERA across eight starts this spring while striking out 64 over a team-high 50.2 innings.

This is Izquierdo's first time winning Patriot League Player of the Week, as he becomes the first Navy player to take home the weekly award since
Andrew Manning on April 7 of last season.

This is Bendik's third-career Patriot League Pitcher of the Week distinction and his second of the season. It also marks the fourth time a Navy hurler has earned PL Pitcher of the Week this season, as Bendik claimed the award on Feb. 16,
Owen Phypers earned the accolade on March 2 and
Matt Archibald got the nod on March 16.

Navy is back in action on Wednesday, hosting a 3:00 p.m. contest against in-state foe Maryland.
