ANNAPOLIS, Md. // Navy's
Chip Deegan (Sr / Newport Beach, Calif.) and
Jack Tarzy (Sr / Medford, N.J.) have been named to the PING All-Northeast Region Team it was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Deegan and Tarzy were among the 150 student-athletes, representing 81 institutions nationwide to be named to one of the six all-region teams.
This is the second-consecutive year Deegan has garnered a spot on the PING All-Northeast Region, while Tarzy is a first-time honoree. Prior to Deegan being recognized a year ago, the last time Navy had a player selected for an all-region team was in 2010 (Ben Hayes).
Deegan and Tarzy flourished in the Navy system throughout their four seasons, but saved their best for their senior campaign. Deegan turned in six top-10 performances, which included five top-five finishes and the distinction of being a conference champion. He saw action in 12 events over the course of the season and closed out the year with a team-low 71.77 stroke average over 35 rounds. His stroke average this year is the second lowest in program history, trailing only Billy Hurley's 70.53 average in 2003-04.
Deegan helped lead the Mids to their eighth Patriot League Championship by way of earning individual medalist honors. He is the ninth Navy player to be crowned the Patriot League Individual Champion and first since Charlie Musto won the title in 2018 at Saucon Valley Country Club in Pennsylvania. The 2026 first-team All-Patriot League selection is also the ninth Navy player to earn Patriot League Player of the Year recognition, but first by a vote of the league's coaches.
In addition to his victory at the Patriot League Championship, his other top performances of the season included second-place finishes at the Commander-In-Chief's Cup (72-75-78=225 / +15) and the Wildcat Invitational (72-75-70=217 / +4), a third-place showing at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate (66-75-68=209 / -4) and a fourth-place finish at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate (66-68-72=206 / -4).
Deegan's 73.22 career stroke average is also the second lowest in school history behind Hurley's 72.96 from 2001-04. He graduates as one of just nine players in program history to earn individual medalist honors multiple times (2023 Golden Horeseshoe Intercollegiate, 2026 Patriot League Championship.
Tarzy was equally as impressive this season for the Mids, placing among the top 10 in five tournaments, including winning a remarkable four events between the fall and spring seasons. He finished the season with a 72.57 stroke average, the third-lowest stroke average for a single season in school history.
After opening the season at the prestigious Folds of Honor Collegiate, Tarzy went on to win three-consecutive tournaments - The Goat (66-71-68=205 / -8), the Commander-In-Chief's Cup (77-72-74=223 / +13) and the Nassau Intercollegiate (73-73-66=212 / +2). Meanwhile, in between the Commander-In-Chief's Cup and the Nassau Intercollegiate, Tarzy captained the Mids' win over Army in the annual Star Match played in Annapolis. He earned his first singles win in four appearances in the battle between the two rivals, while the win marked the school's 1,200th victory against Army in the all-time overall series.
Tarzy returned in the spring to win his fourth tournament of the season with a 5-under par 208 (68-68-72) at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate and followed up with an eighth-place finish at the Wildcat Invitational (74-72-77=223 / +10).
Tarzy, who garnered 2026 first-team All-Patriot League recognition and was named to the 2026 Patriot League Men's Golf All-Academic Team, finished his career with a 73.62 stroke average, the third-lowest career average in Navy history.
