Justin Mumford and rising junior
Brian Schloeder were named Academic All-Americans for men's track & field / cross country, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced on Tuesday. Mumford was named to the first team, while Schloeder was selected to the third team.

In cross country, Mumford was named the 2025 Patriot League Runner of the Year after capturing the individual conference title, a performance that anchored his selection to the First Team All-Patriot League for the second-consecutive season. Mumford was the team's top runner in every race during the 2025 season and represented Navy at the NCAA Championships, where he finished with a time of 30:05.0.

On the track, Mumford qualified for the 2026 NCAA East First Round in the outdoor 10,000-meter run following a dominant campaign. He swept the distance events in 2026, capturing individual titles in the indoor 5,000-meter, outdoor 5,000-meter and outdoor 10,000-meter races to secure first-team All-Patriot League honors in all three events.

The New Baden, Ill., native graduated with distinction in aerospace engineering with a 3.95 GPA and ranked 66th in the Academic Order of Merit.

Schloeder put together a historic 2026 campaign in the pole vault, earning honorable-mention All-America honors after qualifying for and competing at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships. He secured his ticket to the national meet by advancing through the NCAA East First Round. Schloeder swept the conference titles to become a two-time 2026 Patriot League champion and earn First Team All-Patriot League distinctions for both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Schloeder boasts a 3.83 GPA as a quantitative economics major and ranks 125th in the Academic Order of Merit.

The Navy athletic program has now totaled seven Academic All-America selections during the 2025-26 academic year.
