Match Information
• The Navy volleyball team opens its 50th varsity season and 51st as a program this weekend when the Mids travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., to compete in the Western Michigan Invite.
• The Mids will play Indiana State Friday at 3 p.m., the host Broncos Saturday at 6 p.m. and Green Bay Sunday at 11 a.m.

• The web site also will have links to free live video from Navy's three matches. The Navy-Western Michigan match will be streamed through the WMU YouTube channel, with Navy's other two matches available through Western Michigan's All-Access platform.
• Please note that announcers will not be part of the broadcast of any of the matches.
Navy Preview
• Navy returns two starters plus the libero, eight letter winners and 11 players from the 2025 team that compiled an overall record of 13-14 and finished in fifth place in the Patriot League regular season with an 8-8 record. Navy won a four-set road Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal round match at Bucknell to advance to the semifinal round where it fell to top-seeded and eventual-champion American.
• The Mids used 20 different starting lineups during the 2025 season, with players who totaled 73 starts back this season.
• The list of returners includes eight players who started at least five matches, plus
Amara Chambers who was the libero in 24 matches.
• Back for the Mids are the team's top-two attackers from last season in
Farrah Eike (2.99 kps) and
Caroline Buffum (2.43 kps).
• Chambers paced Navy with 32 aces and 350 digs a year ago, with setter
Isa Boyd back after she dished out a team-best 394 assists and rankling second to Chambers with 28 aces.
• 2026 team captain
Grace Burgoyne ranked third on the team in 2025 with 56 blocks. She leads all returning players in that statistic.
• Eight freshmen and nine new players round out the roster.
• Navy has advanced to at least the semifinal round of the tournament in six of the seven years under head coach
Paco Labrador in which the full season was played.
• The Mids placed fifth in the 2026 nine-team Patriot League Preseason Poll of head coaches.
Indiana State Preview
• The Sycamores posted an overall record of 9-19 a year ago and placed ninth in the 11-team Missouri Valley Conference with a 3-13 record.
• Friday's match will be the first between the Mids and the Sycamores.
• Navy has posted a 3-1 record –– all on the Division I level (since 1991) –– against teams from The Valley, with the last meeting being a four-set victory by the Mids over Bradley in 2017. Navy also has faced Belmont (1-0, 1999), Illinois-Chicago (1-0, 2013) and Valparaiso (0-1, 1995).
• The state of Indiana boats 11 NCAA Division I volleyball programs. The Mids have previously played Ball State (0-1, last: 2017), Indiana (0-1, 1995), Purdue Fort Wayne (2-0, 2021), Notre Dame (1-0, 2022) and Valparaiso (0-1, 1995).
Western Michigan Preview
• The Broncos ended their 2025 season with an overall record of 17-16 and in second place in the Mid-American Conference's regular season with a mark of 13-5. Western Michigan advanced to the championship match of the MAC Tournament where it lost a four-set decision to No. 4 seed Toledo.
• The Broncos placed third in the 2026 11-team MAC Preseason Poll.
• Navy and Western Michigan will be facing each other for the first time.
• The Mids enter the match with an overall record of 6-12 and a Division I record of 4-10 against teams from the MAC. Navy last played a current MAC team in 2019 when it defeated Eastern Michigan in five sets.
• With Saturday's match, the Mids will have faced five of the six Division I programs located in Michigan. Navy has played Eastern Michigan (1-1, 2019), Michigan (0-3, 2021), Michigan State (0-1, 2022) and Oakland (1-1, 1988). The lone team from the state Navy has not played is Central Michigan.
Green Bay Preview
• Green Bay put together an overall record of 11-19 and a Horizon league record of 10-8 during the 2025 season. The Phoenix placed sixth in the 10-team league.
• Green Bay finished in fifth place in the 2026 11-team Horizon League Preseason Poll.
• Sunday's match is the inaugural meeting of the programs.
• Navy has posted a 12-10 overall record and an 8-8 Division I record against teams currently in the Horizon League. The Mids played both Cleveland State (won in four sets) and Fort Wayne (won in three sets) during the 2021 season.
• The lone team from Wisconsin Navy has previously played is Marquette (0-1, 1997). The Mids have not faced either Wisconsin or Milwaukee, the state's additional two Division I programs.
Second Trip to Michigan
• This weekend marks Navy's second trip in its 51 seasons to play matches in the state of Michigan.
• The Mids previously played at Michigan and at Eastern Michigan in 2019.
Next for Navy
• Navy returns to Annapolis to play its second of three tournaments this season Sept. 4-6 when it plays host to the 15th edition of the Kristen Dickmann Invite. The Mids will play Coppin State, Penn and Stony Brook over the course of the three days in the Wesley A. Brown Field House.
