Attending the Matches
•    Only those vehicles driven by someone with a Department of War approved identification card will be allowed onto the USNA.
•    Fans without approved vehicle access to the USNA must park outside of The Yard.  The simplest way to do this is to take the free shuttle bus.
•    The shuttle bus on Friday (5-9 p.m.) and Saturday (3-7 p.m.) will depart from and return to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (550 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, Md., 21401).  Enter the blue / west parking lot through gate 5 off of Taylor Avenue.  There is a $10 per vehicle parking fee.  The free fan shuttle bus will leave from and return to the Blue Angel jet.

Last Week
•    Navy went on the road to win a pair of matches on the first weekend of the Patriot League season.
•    The Mids first rallied after dropping the first two sets to win the last three and defeat Colgate, 15-25, 17-25, 25-14, 25-21, 15-9.
•    There was a stark difference in the hitting percentages by the teams from sets one and two versus three, four and five:

Navy in sets 1-2 - 27 kills, 14 errors, 77 attempts, .168
Colgate in sets 1-2 - 32 kills, 4 errors, 67 attempts, .418

Navy in sets 3-5 - 38 kills, 14 errors, 84 attempts, .286
Colgate in sets 3-5 - 20 kills, 16 errors, 86 attempts, .047

•    Sparking the rally was the play of Farah Eike.  The junior outside hitter total 24 kills in the match, with 18 coming in the last three sets including five in set five with her final kill being match point.  She recorded 18 kills and 2 errors on 30 attempts (.533) in the last three sets.
•    Amara Chambers snared 21 digs in the match.
•    The result ...
--- was Navy's first 'reverse sweep' since it accomplished the feat at Army on Nov. 11, 2023;
--- ended the team's nine-match losing streak to the Raiders (last win was Oct. 7, 2022);
--- and ended a 10-match Navy losing streak to Colgate in matches played in Hamilton (last win was Nov. 3, 2018).

•    Navy then won a three-set match at Holy Cross the next day, winning by scores of 25-16, 25-20, 25-16.
•    Navy finished with just three more kills than Holy Cross (39-37), but had 10 fewer attack errors (17-10) and totaled 8 aces against 4 service errors to the 1 ace and 7 errors for the Crusaders.
•    Eike just missed a second double-double in as many days with 11 kills and 9 digs while Avery Maddux had 4 kills in 5 attempts and recorded 9 blocks.

•    Farrah Eike was named the Patriot League Player of the Week on Sept. 22 following her matches against Colgate (24 kills, 13 digs, .327) and Holy Cross (11 kills, 9 dogs, .370).  She averaged 4.38 kills and 2.75 digs and hit .342 (35-9-76) in the two matches.

•    It was the first career weekly accolade for Chambers.

Lafayette Preview
•    Lafayette enters the week on a three-match losing streak and records of 6-6 overall and 0-2 in league play.
•    The Leopards lost in five sets to Bucknell and in three sets to Lehigh last week.  In their prior last non-league match of the season, they lost in three sets to a Penn team that had defeated Navy in four sets the prior week.
•    Navy won both matches against the Leopards last season, winning in three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-18) in Easton and in five sets (28-30, 25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 15-6) in Annapolis.
•    Two of the last three and three of the last six matches in the series have been extended to five sets.
•    Navy has 10 players who have played in a match against Lafayette and the Leopards have six players who have previously faced the Mids.
•    Navy players have totaled 134 career kills against the Leopards.  This includes Farrah Eike with 97 kills in four matches.  She has posted 27 (5 sets), 15 (3 sets) and 26 kills (5 sets) in the last three matches.  She has totaled 68 kills (5.23 kps) and a .363 hitting percentage in this span.
•    Lafayette players have totaled 88 kills against the Mids.  This includes Destiny McKenzie with 25 (4 matches), Paige Chmura with 22 (2) and Jada Aksu with 21 (2).

Bucknell Preview
•    Bucknell heads into a Friday match at Loyola with an overall record of 5-6 and a league mark of 1-1.
•    The Bison won a five-set match over Lafayette and fell in three sets to Lehigh on the opening weekend of the season.
•    Bucknell has posted a 4-2 record in its last six matches.
•    The teams met three times during the 2025 campaign, with two of the matches going to five sets.  Navy won a five-set match (25-23, 16-25, 23-25, 25-11, 15-12) in Annapolis, Bucknell posted a four-set victory (23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-17) one week later in Lewisburg, then the Mids won a road Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal round match in five sets (21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 15-8).
•    Five of the last 10 matches between the teams have lasted five sets.  24 of the 42 sets played by the teams in this span have been decided by no more than five points.  This includes 11 two-point sets and four three-point sets.  The 2025 season saw five two-point sets and three three-point sets in the 14 sets played between the teams.

•    Sidney Shaffer is pacing the Bison with 69 kills against Navy.  She produced 32 kills in the three matches last season.

Next for Navy
•    Navy stays local next weekend as the Mids will play host to Loyola on Friday, Oct. 2 and play at American on Sunday, Oct. 4.

5-Set Matches
•    It made sense that Navy's season-opening match against Indiana State was extended to five sets.
•    Navy's 2025 season opener against Boise State also was a five-set match.
•    The Mids played eight five setters in 2025, which was one away from tying the school record for the most in a Division I season (since 1991).
•    Navy has played 30 five-set matches since the start of the 2022 season.
•    Navy has played 22 five-set matches during the Patriot League regular season since the start of the 2022 season.

Many Lineups
•    Navy used 20 different starting lineups (including the libero) during the 2025 season.
•    The Mids have used seven different starting lineups through 10 matches this season.
