ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's swimming and diving team ended the 2006 Patriot League Championship with a total score of 516.50 points and a third-place showing. The three-day championship concluded Saturday evening in Navy's home pool of Lejeune Hall.
Bucknell totaled 744.50 points to win its fourth-straight title, outdistancing second-place Colgate by 13.50 points.
"It was a really strong final day for us," said Navy head coach John Morrison. "A number of the girls really stepped up. Dianna Dietrich and Cameron Wallace reaching the final of the 200 fly was unexpected, and Julie Holland had a great swim in the 200 back. What a great day for Jennie Spencer, to be able to lower her own school record in the 200 back twice and qualify for nationals. It was a tremendous day."
Navy's evening began with Katie Griffin placing second on the one-meter springboard. Griffin, who also was the runner-up on the three meter earlier in the championship, totaled 253.90 points to finish behind Chelsea Haviland's winning score of 267.95. Also scoring points for the Mids in the event were Sheila Singer in sixth place and Desiree' Robison in seventh.
