COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Navy junior Tara Chapmon (Virginia Beach, Va.) improved upon her own school and league record and posted an NCAA `B' cut qualifying time in claiming first-place honors in the 200 freestyle highlighting the Midshipmen's efforts during the second day of the Terrapin Cup Invite on Friday. With two days of the three-day meet now in the books, Navy stands in sixth in the 10-team field with 202 points.
Chapmon paced the field in the sprint event with a clocking of 1:48.00, producing a new Navy and Patriot League standard for the second time in as many nights. Her time in the event bests her own school mark of 1:48.82 set at last February's Patriot League Championship and also eclipses the NCAA 'B' cut standard of 1:48.18.
The third-year swimmer previously set a new school and league record in the 500 free (4:46.68) on Thursday night. Chapmon also contributed as a member of Navy's two relay teams which placed fifth in the 200 medley relay and sixth in the 800 free relay.
Sophomore Allison Ranzau (Alpharetta, Ga.) turned in a season-best performance to capture the consolation final of the 200 free. Ranzau finished in a time of 1:51.16 earning nine points and giving the Mids a combined total of 29 points in the event.

Dietrich also earned a spot in the consolation final of the 100 fly, where she touched in eighth place (58.59).
A pair of Navy relay teams also took part in championship final races during the evening session.
The squad's 200 medley relay team of sophomore Brooke Besche (Severna Park, Md.), junior Thuy-Mi Dinh (Anaheim, Calif.), Chapmon, and Dietrich finished fifth overall with a time of 1:46.86, while the 800 free relay foursome of senior Lauren Milliron (Richmond, Va.), sophomore Heather Klein (Chicago, Ill.), Ranzau and Chapmon placed sixth with a time of 7:46.39.
