ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's swimming and diving team improved its record to 3-0 on the young season with a 156-96 victory over Johns Hopkins, Friday evening at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis.
Navy swimmers won all but one event in the meet. Leading the way for Navy was Tara Chapmon (Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.), who won the 50 backstroke with a time of 30.90 and the 150 backstroke with a clocking of 1:44.25. Joining her with multiple individual event victories in the meet was Allison Ranzau (Jr., Alpharetta, Ga.), who won the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.92 and the 400 free with a time of 4:31.18.
Additional individual event wins for Navy were recorded by Katie Davidson (Fr., Geneva, Fla.) in the 800 free (9:16.15), Stephanie Hebda (Sr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) in the 50 breaststroke (35.65), Toni Paruso (Fr., Savannah, Ga.) in the 150 fly (1:44.41), Tessa Snow (Jr., Hamlin, N.Y.) in the 150 breaststroke (2:02.77), Natalie Albertson (Jr., St. Paul, Minn.) in the 50 fly (30.41) and Thuy-Mi Dinh (Sr., Anaheim, Calif.) in the 100 individual medley (1:07.57).
Navy swimmers also combined to win the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay and 400 free relay.
"We're pleased by the results of today's meet," said Navy women's swimming head coach John Morrison. "We had some different events as part of the meet, so competing in these events took a little extra challenge for everyone as they are out of their comfort zone. But it was a challenge everyone embraced and rose to meet."
The lone victory recorded by a Johns Hopkins swimmer was in the 150 freestyle. Elizabeth Rogers posted a time of 1:35.02 to pick up the win in the event by three-quarters of a second over her Blue Jays teammate Kristen Ferriero.
Navy will take to the road for the first time this season on October 24 when the Mids travel to compete at UMBC.
